Braves’ pitcher Tommy Hanson is close to making his return, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s David O’Brien.
Hanson, who was placed on the disabled list at the end of July with a back injury, is scheduled to throw a rehab start Sunday, and will likely be promoted shortly after that start. Hanson will throw four or five innings, and is expected to throw about 80 pitches.
Once Hanson returns, the Braves are aren’t sure if they’ll go to a six-man rotation. Manager Fredi Gonzalez hasn’t made a decision yet, but MLB.com’s Mark Bowman says that a six-man rotation is “unlikely.”
