The Rockies are planning to place infielders Chris Nelson and Jonathan Herrera on the disabled list, Troy Renck of the Denver Post reported Tuesday. D.J. LeMahieu and Andrew Brown are listed on the Rockies' 25-man roster according to Renck.
Nelson was hospitalized Monday due to an irregular heartbeat. He underwent a procedure to shock his heart back into its normal rhythm Tuesday and is under observation, Renck added. Herrera has been dealing with a sore right shoulder since missing Saturday's game.
LeMahieu has appeared in 19 games for the Rockies this season, hitting .205/.262/.231. He has a .314 average for Triple-A Colorado Springs but just one home run in 255 at-bats in one of the most hitter-friendly environments in the major leagues.
Brown was claimed off waivers from the Cardinals in October of 2011. The outfielder owns a solid .311/.372/.605 line for Colorado Springs with 20 home runs and 84 RBI in 86 games.
