The Mets are interested in free-agent pitcher Kip Wells, according to Evan Drellich of MLB.com.
A first-round pick in the 1998 draft, Wells came back after being out of the league for three years last season. He made seven starts with the Padres, tossing 37 1/3 innings. In those seven starts, Wells had a 4.58 ERA and a 5.85 FIP.
The 36-year-old pitcher is a 12-year veteran in the majors. After coming up with the White Sox, Wells was traded to the Pirates, where he spent five seasons of his career. In 1,338 1/3 major league innings, Wells has a 4.71 ERA and a 4.68 FIP.
