The Nationals have signed catcher Chris Snyder to a minor-league contract, Jerry Crasnick of ESPN reported Tuesday.
Snyder hit .176/.295/.308 (65 OPS+) in 76 games with Houston in 2012. Over a nine-year career, including stops with Arizona and Pittsburgh, he has a .225/.329/.385 (85 OPS+) line with 77 home runs.
Snyder, 31, will have an uphill battle to make the Nationals' major-league roster, as Kurt Suzuki and Wilson Ramos (returning from a torn ACL) will likely occupy the club's two catcher spots.
