Left-handed pitcher Patrick Corbin will report to the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, Jack Magruder of Fox Sports Arizona reported Tuesday.
The 23-year-old has already started five games and made five relief appearances for Arizona, posting a 4.15 ERA and 3.95 ERA in 39 innings of work. He owns a 3.44 ERA and 3.01 FIP for Triple-A Reno this season in nine starts, striking out over a batter per inning.
According to Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic, Josh Collmenter's name was in the reliever area of the lineup card despite a scheduled start Wednesday. As such, Corbin is likely to replace Collmenter in the Diamondbacks' rotation going forward.
Collmenter has a 4.13 ERA on the season but has struggled mightily as a starter, allowing 11 home runs in his nine starts and a 5.83 ERA. He has excelled in 25.2 relief innings, posting a 1.05 ERA and allowing just one home run, striking out 24 against five walks.
