The Rockies are seeking veteran starting pitchers, according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post.
Renck noted the team pursued Kyle McClellan and Aaron Cook, who signed with the Rangers and Phillies, respectively. The Rockies will get a good look at Jair Jurrjens, who is slated to pitch for the Netherlands in the World Baseball Classic. They also are interested in Derek Lowe, who pitched out of the Yankees' bullpen at the end of last season. They'll also look at Brandon Webb, who is attempting to come back after multiple shoulder issues.
As of now, the team will enter the season with a combination of pitchers Jorge De La Rosa, Jeff Francis, Jhoulys Chacin, Juan Nicasio, Drew Pomeranz, Christian Friedrich and Tyler Chatwood. Friedrich and Chatwood likely need a strong spring to break into the rotation.
