Left-hander Pedro Hernandez, 23, is slated to make his first career MLB start Wednesday for the White Sox, Dan Hayes of Comcast Sports reported.
There has been no word yet on the corresponding roster move necessary to bring Hernandez onto the 25-man roster, as the White Sox may hold off on making the move until game time Wednesday. This marks the second White Sox rotation change of the day, as Gavin Floyd headed to the disabled list earlier with right elbow tendinitis. Chicago reactivated Philip Humber to take his place.
Hernandez has thrown 12 innings at Triple-A this season, striking out 11 against a walk and allowing five earned runs. He made 12 starts for Double-A Birmingham to begin the year, compiling a 2.75 ERA and 37 strikeouts against 18 walks in 68.2 innings.
