The Kansas City Royals recalled top prospect Jake Odorizzi on Sunday, and now there are indications the 22-year-old will make his debut this Sunday, according to the Kansas City Star's Bob Dutton.
With Luis Mendoza looking like he'll be able to start Friday for the Royals, Will Smith should get Saturday's start, leaving Odorizzi to make his MLB debut the following day.
Odorizzi's last action came on Sept. 11.
Named baseball's 29th-best prospect by Baseball America in July, Odorizzi was 15-5 with a 3.03 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 25 starts and one relief appearance in Double-A and Triple-A this season.
