The Diamondbacks will look to trade outfielders this offseason, according to ESPN’s Buster Olney.
The team needs a shortstop, and could deal away one of its outfielders to get one. With Adam Eaton, Jason Kubel, Gerardo Parra, Justin Upton and Chris Young, the club has outfielders to trade. One or more of those players is likely to be moved, according to Olney.
Rival executives have told Olney they believe Young will be traded. There was a belief that the Diamondbacks would have let him go if a team had claimed him on waivers this August.
The bigger question is whether the team will part with Upton. Since Upton is coming off a poor season, Olney doesn’t think it’s the right time to deal him.
