The Yankees are likely to trade Alex Rodriguez, according to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale.

Rodriguez has a no-trade clause, but is allegedly ready to move on. He will not ask to be traded, however. If Rodriguez is traded, he’s going to want to stay in a major market. Nightengale gives the Marlins, Angels, White Sox and Dodgers as the teams most likely to be in the mix for A-Rod.

As CBSSports.com’s Jon Heyman reported, the Marlins haven’t had serious discussions for Rodriguez yet.

Nightengale suggests the Yankees deal A-Rod to the Angels for outfielder Vernon Wells. The Angels want to keep Torii Hunter, and moving Wells would allow them to free up an outfield spot for Hunter. Hunter has been offered a one-year deal by the Angels, but would like two years. The Yankees would take Wells for Rodriguez, according to Nightengale, but money could be an issue. New York would have to kick in a significant amount of money for a team to take Rodriguez, who is still owed $114 million over the next five seasons.
