Colorado called up shortstop Josh Rutledge from Double-A Tulsa for Friday night's game when the team placed Todd Helton on the disabled list, but while he was in Colorado in time for Friday's game against the Phillies, his luggage didn't.
If you're a big-league baseball player making your debut in the major leagues, you may want to have some of your own equipment. Instead, the former University of Alabama star had to go begging for spare parts. According to the Denver Post, in the pictures seen above you can see the following:
• Glove from Jordan Pacheco
• Bat by DJ LeMahieu
• Cleats by Troy Tulowitzki
• Batting gloves by Tulowitzki
So how'd he do? He went 2 for 2 with a double, a walk, two RBI and a stolen base. He also knocked in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning with a sacrifice fly.
"I'm not going to lie to you, I was a little nervous for that first at-bat, but after that I settled down and it felt like a normal baseball game," Rutledge told the Denver Post. "I think the biggest crowd I ever played in front of was about 13,000, so this was pretty awesome."
After his performance in front of 33,346 at Coors Feild, he may have picked up a few fans of his very own.
