Look on the bright side Nationals fans, the timer running on Stephen Strasburg's 2012 season was slowed down just a bit as the right-hander lasted just four innings against the Phillies putting his season total at 121 1/3 innings. Philadelphia put six runs up on Strasburg on eight hits.
The Nationals have said they'd be conservative with the right-handed Strasburg in his first year back from Tommy John surgery and there would an innings limit on him for the season. The team was rumored to have a 160-inning limit, but CBSSports.com Insider Danny Knobler speculates that the team's trade deadline strategy hinted at a 170-innings limit.
After a scoreless first, the Phillies scored in each of the next three innings, including a two-run homer by Kevin Frandsen in the second inning. It was Frandsen's first home run in the big leagues since 2007 -- Strasburg's freshman year at San Diego State. In the fourth inning, Jimmy Rollins notched the fourth inside-the-park home run of his career and 10th home run of the season.
Strasburg threw 65 pitches, walking one and striking out three. He was replaced by Tom Gorzelanny.
