Slumping Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada has been benched for the Thursday afternoon game in Washington. Wilmer Flores is set to start instead.
Tejada has a hit in just three of the last 10 games in which he received a plate appearance and seven of his last 20. His average has fallen from .246 to .226 since July 8.
