We are, thankfully, one step closer to ending the Theo Epstein compensation saga, as the Red Sox now have all the players they were scheduled to receive as Class A pitcher Aaron Kurcz was sent to Boston to complete the Cubs' side of the deal. The Red Sox, though, still have to send the Cubs a player to put this all behind us.
Last month Chicago sent Chris Carpenter to Boston, with players to be named scheduled to go both ways. Krucz, 21, was an 11th-round pick by the Cubs in 2010. The right-hander went 5-4 with a 3.28 ERA in 12 starts and 32 appearances for the Florida State League's Daytona Cubs. He struck out 91 batters in 82 1/3 innings, while walking 34. He had a WHIP of 1.227. He was 2-1 with a 2.05 ERA and nine save in 25 appearances at short-season Boise in 2010.
Chicago still has to send a player to San Diego as compensation for general manager Jed Hoyer.

The Cubs send 21-year-old right-hander Aaron Krucz to Boston as the player to be named as part of the compensation package for signing former Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein. Last month the Red Sox acquired right-hander Chris Carpenter. The Red Sox still have to send a player to Chicago.
