Tigers ailing right-hander Justin Verlander not only resumed his throwing program Thursday, but he tossed more pitches than scheduled, Brad Ausmus told MLB.com.

"You can tweet that out," Ausmus said after Verlander threw 50 pitches. The veteran then went on to toss a few more.

Verlander has been sidelined since the regular season began with a triceps strain. It remains to be seen when he returns to the mound in game action.
