Tigers starting pitcher Justin Verlander (triceps) threw 40 pitches off a mound Sunday, manager Brad Ausmus told reporters Monday.

"Felt good," Ausmus said of Verlander, per MLB.com. "The last couple pitches, not as good."

Verlander is scheduled to play catch Tuesday, according to head athletic trainer Kevin Rand. Verlander could also face hitters Tuesday.

The Tigers have not put Verlander on the disabled list. However, he is still not expected to pitch until April 12 at Cleveland at the earliest.
