- Juan Nicasio did not make his scheduled start in a simulated game Thursday due to fluid buildup in his left knee, according to The Denver Post's Troy Renck. Nicasio was supposed to throw four innings, and take part in some fielding drills. Nicasio has been out since June 2, after hurting his knee fielding a groundball.
- The Royals have released catcher Humberto Quintero according to The Kansas City Star's Bob Dutton. The team attempted to trade Quintero, but couldn't find any buyers. The 32-year-old catcher hit just .232/.257/.341 this season.
- Chris Schwinden has been reclaimed off waivers by the
Mets . After beginning the season with the Mets, Schwinden has moved quite a bit the past five weeks. Schwinden was claimed four seperate times during that period. He was a member of theBlue Jays ,Indians andYankees before returning to the Mets.
