The Royals and Tigers are opening an incredibly important three-game series in Detroit on Monday afternoon (GameTracker). The Tigers took an early 8-2 lead and have been nursing it ever since.
Kansas City is starting to scratch their way back into the game though, and in the seventh inning outfielder Lorenzo Cain hustled around the bases for an inside-the-park home run after Torii Hunter and Don Kelly collided in right-center field. Here's the play:
Hunter was looked at by the trainer for a few minutes but ultimately he and Kelly remained in the game.
It appears Hunter did actually catch the ball before the collision knocked it lose. Either way, the official scorer ruled it a straight inside-the-park home run. No error at all.
