The Brewers acquired left-hander Will Smith from the Royals Thursday in exchange for outfielder Norichika Aoki. Smith, 24, made 16 starts for the Royals in 2012, but he appeared to find his niche as a reliever last year, posting a 3.24 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 11.6 strikeouts per nine innings in 19 appearances, including one start.
