The Chicago White Sox have acquired outfielder Blake Tekotte from the San Diego Padres in exchange for a player to be named later, reports CBSSports.com's Danny Knobler. The Padres will send pitcher Brandon Kloess to the White Sox, the club announced Wednesday.
The Padres designated Tekotte for assignment on Nov. 2, clearing space on the 40-man roster.
The 25-year-old outfielder has made 55 plate appearances for the Padres over two seasons, hitting .163/.226/.224 with three stolen bases. He also made 347 plate appearances at Triple-A Tucson, hitting .243/.284/.402 with nine home runs and nine stolen bases.
Kloess, 27, split his 2012 between Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte, combining for a 2.69 ERA in 37 appearances (14 starts) with a 2.33 K/BB. In 34.1 career innings at the Triple-A level, Kloess owns a 1.31 ERA and has struck out 34 batters.
