White Sox left-hander John Danks hasn't pitched since May 19, but his season officially ended on Tuesday when the team announced he will undergo shoulder surgery on Monday. The team said it's exploratory surgery and they hope he'll be ready for spring training.
Danks last saw game action on June 12 at Triple-A Charlotte, but felt sore two days later and was shut down.
Danks, 27, was 3-4 with a 5.70 ERA in nine starts. He's 57-60 with a 4.12 ERA in parts of six seasons. He's signed through 2016.
The White Sox also said Chris Sale will re-join the White Sox rotation on Tuesday in Kansas City.
