White Sox left-hander Jose Quintana struggled in his start against the Royals on Saturday. Quintana gave up four runs on 10 hits over 5 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out four, needing 107 pitches to get through one out in the sixth.

Three of the four runs Quintana gave up came in the first inning, giving the Royals an early 3-0 lead. The White Sox rallied back to tie the game however, and Quintana was able to escape with a no-decision in the 7-6 extra-innings loss.

This outing was a small step backwards for Quintana, who had allowed a total of six earned runs in his last three starts combined entering play on Saturday. His season ERA still sits at a respectable 3.83 however.
