Machi was designated for assignment Saturday and is headed to the Pacific Coast League. Machi allowed just one run over 7.2 innings (five games) with the big club before being sent to Tacoma, but he's coming off a 2016 campaign that saw him post a 5.12 ERA and 1.40 WHIP.

Making his second appearance in as many nights, Machi was highly effective once again, disposing of Andrelton Simmons, Ben Revere and Cliff Pennington in 11 pitches. Machi had his contract purchased from Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.
Machi worked his way back to the majors after spending all of 2016 in the minor-leagues. The 35-year-old recorded four saves across eight scoreless appearances (eight innings) with Tacoma this season. Given he hasn't posted an ERA under five in the majors since 2014, he'll likely only be used in lower leverage situations.

Machi signed a Triple-A deal with San Francisco on Thursday, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Machi was released by the Cubs on Thursday and was subsequently arrested that night for public intoxication. The Giants seem comfortable dealing with any potential character issues, however, and signed him to a contract with Triple-A Sacramento. The 34-year-old will head there in the coming days and offer organizational bullpen depth.
