Mike Carp: Released by Orioles on Friday
Carp was released by the Orioles on Friday, Jon Meoli of the Baltimore Sun reports.
Carp has appeared in the major multiple times over the past few seasons, but there simply was no place for him in the Orioles organization. However, he did bat .296 in the majors in 2013, so he could be picked up by a team looking for a veteran not far removed from a decent season.

Mike Carp: Signs minor league deal Friday
Carp signed a minor league deal with the Orioles on Friday that does not include an invite to spring training, Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com reports.
Carp spent 2015 with Triple-A Oklahoma City where he hit just .091/.130/.136 in only seven games played. His last major league stint was in 2014 when he posted a .175/.289/.230 line between Boston and Texas. This feels like a move intended to provide organizational depth for the Orioles as they already have Chris Davis and Mark Trumbo as options at first base.
