Jesus Montero: Released by Orioles
Montero was released by the Orioles on Tuesday.
Montero, who returned from a 50-game suspension for a banned substance earlier this month, got off to a rough start with Triple-A Norfolk, hitting just .143 with 14 strikeouts in 49 at-bats. He'll look to latch on elsewhere after batting .317 over 126 games for Triple-A Buffalo last year.

Orioles' Jesus Montero: Returns from injury
Montero was activated from the MiLB disabled list and joined Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday
After completing a 50-game suspension, the 6-foot-3, 235-pound first baseman played in just seven Triple-A contests before suffering a hamstring injury. The seriousness of the ailment must not have been too bad considering Montero returned after eight days off and played both games of Thursday's doubleheader, going 0-for-7.

Orioles' Jesus Montero: Placed on disabled list Friday
Montero (hamstring) was placed on the disabled list Friday at Triple-A Norfolk, retroactive to June 8.
Montero recently returned from serving a 50-game suspension after testing positive for a banned substance, and will now hit the DL after suffering a right hamstring injury. He has only appeared in five games this season for Norfolk, going 4-for-18 with two RBI and two walks. Montero is unlikely to join Baltimore at any point this season due to their plethora of first basemen, but his first concern is just getting back on the field.

Orioles' Jesus Montero: Completes suspension
Montero was added to Triple-A Norfolk's roster Wednesday after completing his 50-game suspension, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
The former top catching prospect, now a first baseman, was hit with a suspension in September after testing positive for a banned substance. The test results brought his impressive 2016 season (.317/.349/.438) into question, but Montero has posted strong numbers since becoming a professional at age 17. He'll get a chance to jump right back into the action at Norfolk, but Montero -- who has 226 MLB games under his belt -- is a long shot to join the O's this season considering the club's large stable of first baseman.
