Felix Doubront: Heading to China
Doubront signed a contract Tuesday with the Chinese Professional Baseball League's Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions, CPBLStats.com reports.
Doubront didn't play professionally in 2020 after spending the 2019 season in the Mexican League, where he posted a 4.58 ERA over 122.2 innings. Now 33 years old and headed overseas to continue his career, Doubront's chances of appearing in the majors again look slim. He hasn't pitched in MLB since 2015, when he tossed 75.1 innings between the Athletics and Blue Jays.

Athletics' Felix Doubront: Could return as reliever
Doubront (elbow) could return from Tommy John surgery as a reliever, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
Doubront is slated to return in June. A move to the bullpen could be exactly what the lefty needs. Although he has shown promise in a starting role thanks to his sharp stuff, Doubront has struggled with control issues throughout his career. In the bullpen, where he could go all out for a single inning, maximizing the movement and velocity of his pitches, those control issues may be less of a hindrance. He'll be a long way from getting saves in Oakland, though, so his fantasy value is likely to be minimal.

Athletics' Felix Doubront: Heads to minor league camp
Doubront (elbow) was reassigned to minor league camp Sunday.
The left-hander is still in the process of returning from Tommy John surgery, so while he's still unable to help out at the major league level, the A's will stash him in the minor leagues. If he returns to his previous form once healthy, Doubront could push for a spot in Oakland's rotation, but for now he'll simply focus on rehabbing his surgically repaired elbow.
