The Tampa Tribune reports that RP Derek Rodriguez, whom the Rays selected from the White Sox in the Rule 5 draft at the winter meetings in December, is headed back to the Chicago organization. He was offered back to the White Sox and they accepted, paying $25,000 to get him back.

The Tampa Bay Rays selected RHP Derek Rodriguez from the Chicago White Sox in the Rule-5 Draft. "We like Derek, we feel like he has an advanced feel for pitching, he changes arm angles, changes speeds, he misses bats," Rays executive vice president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman told MLB.com. "We've got numerous reports that he makes hitters uncomfortable in the box with the different things he does. We're anxious to get him into big league camp and get a look at him first-hand."
