Royals' Chris Withrow: Reassigned to minor league camp
Withrow was reassigned to the Royals' minor league camp Monday, MLB.com's Jeffrey Flanagan reports.
Withrow has showed some promise in the past during his time with the Dodgers earlier in his career, but he was let go by the Braves in the offseason after wayward command limited his effectiveness in 2016. He was forced to settle for a minor-league deal with the Royals, and was unable to overcome a rough spring training in his bid for a roster spot. He'll slot in as organizational bullpen depth for the Royals, presumably at Triple-A Omaha.

Withrow received a spring training invitation from the Royals on Saturday, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
Control issues have plagued Withrow throughout his career, and a 2014 Tommy John surgery has kept him out of action in 2015, but the Royals are making a minimal investment in the hope that he can find both health and the strike zone in 2017. The 27-year-old posted a 3.58 ERA and 4.1 BB/9 in 37.2 innings for the Braves during 2016.

Withrow (elbow) was activated from the disabled list Thursday, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Elbow inflammation landed Withrow on the DL midway through August, but an MRI cleared him of any structural damage. The right-hander, who holds a 1.19 WHIP and 3.31 ERA across 32.2 innings, will provide bullpen depth over the final month of the season.

Withrow is optimistic that he'll be off the DL shortly after he's eligible, although more information regarding his return will likely be known soon as he increases his baseball activities in the coming days. Withrow received a clean bill of health after undergoing an MRI on his elbow Saturday, so he'll rest for a couple more days before working his way back from the DL. The right-hander has already undergone Tommy John surgery in his career, but with the MRI showing no ligament or structural damage to his elbow, it looks like he's avoided a major setback. The 27-year-old, who owns a 3.31 ERA over 40 appearances this season, is expected to return to the Braves by the end of August.

Withrow (elbow) will likely only need 15 days on the DL before returning after he received a clean MRI on Saturday, 680 The Fan's Kevin McAlpin reports.

Withrow has been placed on the 15-day DL with right elbow inflammation.
Considering that he had Tommy John surgery in June of 2014, elbow inflammation is a significant concern for Withrow. Chaz Roe, who was claimed off waivers Sunday from the Orioles, will replace Withrow on the Braves' 25-man roster beginning Monday in Milwaukee.

Withrow (1-0) tossed a perfect inning with two strikeouts to get the win in the 11th episode against the Giants on Wednesday.
Withrow has bounced between Triple-A and the majors this season, and he's been lights out on both level. The 27-year-old righty has a 2.53 ERA in 14 appearances, and he hasn't allowed a run since April 29. He has enough stuff to hold down a bullpen spot for the foreseeable future.

Withrow was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday, Kevin McAlpin of the Braves Radio Network reports.
The Braves needed reinforcements for their bullpen after Casey Kelly, who was previously scheduled to start Saturday, was forced to fire 77 pitches in relief during Wednesday's 13-inning marathon match with the Brewers. Withrow has been lights out for the Triple-A squad, not allowing a run and striking out 10 batters in 8.1 innings out of the bullpen, making him a clear callup candidate. He'll likely work in lower-leverage situations until the Braves are in need of a fifth starter again. To make room for him on the roster, starting pitcher Casey Kelly was optioned to Triple-A.

Withrow was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
The right-hander has generally been serviceable in his 10 appearances out of the bullpen to date, allowing three runs on five hits and five walks over seven innings. However, with the Braves deciding to prioritize adding bench depth over bullpen help, Emilio Bonifacio will be added to the 25-man roster at Withrow's expense.

Braves' Chris Withrow: Pitches four scoreless appearances last week
Withrow has pitched 3.1 scoreless frames over four appearances since blowing a save against the Cardinals on April 10.
He allowed one run on one hit and two walks in that relief appearance versus St. Louis, which technically counted as a blown save because he gave up the lead even though he pitched in the fifth inning. Since then, he's allowed just one base runner, which was a walk last Wednesday versus Washington. It's obviously a small sample size, but should Atlanta's bullpen continue to struggle, Withrow could see a bigger role.

The 26-year-old missed all of the 2015 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2014. It appears the Braves want to ease Withrow back into action by allowing him to open the year in Triple-A. The former first-round pick posted a 2.95 ERA over 21.3 innings with the Dodgers in 2014 and could get the opportunity to contribute to the Braves' bullpen should he find similar success this season.
