Cory Luebke: Hangs up cleats
Luebke has decided to retire from baseball, Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago reports.
Aside from a brief appearance for the Pirates during the 2016 season (9.35 ERA through 8.2 innings), Luebke hasn't pitched in the majors since 2012. He showed promise after posting a 3.29 ERA across 139.2 innings during his age-26 season, but Tommy John surgery derailed his career shortly thereafter. On the whole, Luebke posted a 3.52 ERA across 197 major-league innings with the Padres and Pirates.

White Sox's Cory Luebke: Activated from MiLB DL
Luebke (hamstring) was added to Triple-A Charlotte's active roster Tuesday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
The embattled lefty began the season on the disabled list after tweaking his hamstring late in spring training, but it seems like he's good to return to action. Luebke will likely work on lengthening out his outings in an attempt to land a spot in Chicago, although he'll likely fill an organizational depth role until that opportunity arises.

White Sox's Cory Luebke: Dealing with sore hamstring
Luebke has not pitched in six days after tweaking his hamstring, Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago reports.
The left-hander had been experiencing an excellent spring prior to being sent to minor league camp (0.96 ERA in 9.1 innings pitched), but the injury bug bit again to hamper his ability to continue his successful ways. That being said, the issue doesn't appear to be too serious, so he should be back in action relatively soon. More details on Luebke's status should come forth as he ramps up his activity again.

White Sox's Cory Luebke: Sent down to minor-league camp
Luebke was reassigned to minor-league camp Tuesday.
He was in big-league camp on a minor-league deal with an invite, but did not make the cut, and will head to Triple-A Charlotte for the start of the season. Luebke has not been able to get his big-league career back off the ground in recent seasons, and has logged just 8.2 MLB innings since 2012.

White Sox's Cory Luebke: Signs minor league contract with White Sox
Luebke signed a minor league contract with the White Sox on Tuesday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
The 31-year-old pitched in the majors last year for the first time since 2012, struggling to the tune of a 9.35 ERA across 8.2 innings, walking 11 batters in the process. The southpaw will likely start the year in Triple-A.

Cory Luebke: Released by the Pirates
Luebke refused his assignment to Triple-A and was released by the Pirates on Sunday.
Luebke hadn't pitched in the majors since June 17, when he walked three of the four batters he faced, surrendering a hit to the other one. With a 9.35 ERA on the year, the Pirates couldn't even afford to keep Luebke in middle relief, designating him for assignment last Saturday. The once promising prospect will now be in search of a new organization that is willing to take a chance on a pitcher that has undergone two Tommy John surgeries.

Pirates' Cory Luebke: Designated for assignment
Luebke was designated for assignment Saturday, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Bill Brink reports.
The veteran southpaw has simply not been getting it done out of the big league bullpen. After giving up a run in Friday's game, he now has a 9.35 ERA and 3.00 WHIP on the season. Those numbers will likely lead to him going unclaimed and heading to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Pirates' Cory Luebke: Makes uninspiring return to majors
Luebke (0-1) took a loss Wednesday against the Mets, giving up a run on three hits and a walk in the 10th inning.
In his first appearance since being recalled four days ago, Luebke was far from effective. Once one of the most promising young arms in the game, two Tommy John surgeries thoroughly derailed Luebke's career, and this season's return to the big leagues has been anything but triumphant. He's given up seven runs in 4.2 innings while walking three times as many batters (six) as he's struck out (two) and has spent time on the DL with a hamstring injury. It seems likely that Luebke's latest stint in the majors won't last long.

Pirates' Cory Luebke: Recalled by Pirates
Luebke was recalled by the Pirates on Saturday, Stephen Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
The Pirates announced a handful of moves Saturday morning, and Curtis Partch will join Luebke in coming up from Triple-A Indianapolis. To clear space on the 25-man roster, Rob Scahill and Wilfredo Boscan were both sent down to Triple-A. Luebke has struggled in four appearances for the Pirates in 2016, allowing seven hits and six earned runs with five walks over just 3.2 innings.
