Jordan Pacheco: Embarks on coaching career
The Rockies announced Friday that Pacheco has accepted a position within the organization as a hitting coach for Triple-A El Paso.
Pacheco's transition into coaching comes after he announced Aug. 3 via his personal Instagram account that he retired as a player. The 35-year-old most recently played in the independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball with the Lexington Legends, but prior to that, he spent parts of six seasons in the majors from 2011 through 2016 with the Rockies, Diamondbacks and Reds. Pacheco retires with a career slash line of .272/.310/.365 to go with 10 home runs and eight stolen bases across 1,149 plate appearances.

Twins' Jordan Pacheco: Lands on DL
Pacheco was placed on the disabled list at Triple-A Rochester with a right wrist fracture prior to Friday's game, Brandon Warne of The Athletic reports.
There has been no word on the severity of Pacheco's injury, but it's expected that he will miss an extended period of time. The catcher last appeared in the majors with Cincinnati in 2016, and is unlikely to move beyond Triple-A this season.

Twins' Jordan Pacheco: Cut from major-league camp
Pacheco was reassigned to minor-league camp Sunday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic Minnesota reports.
Although Pacheco went just 1-for-12 (.083) at the plate this spring, he managed to boost his on-base percentage to .353 as he drew five walks. Pacheco, who last appeared in the majors in 2016 as a member of the Reds, will provide organizational depth for the Twins this season.

Twins' Jordan Pacheco: Joins Twins on minor-league deal
Pacheco signed a minor-league contract with the Twins on Monday, Brandon Warne of The Athletic Minnesota reports.
Pacheco is looking to make his way back to the majors after spending all of the 2017 season in the independent Atlantic League with the Long Island Ducks, where he hit .273/.351/.420 in 42 games. The 32-year-old, who has prior major-league experience with the Rockies, Diamondbacks and Reds, will look to compete for a utility role with the Twins in 2018.

Braves' Jordan Pacheco: Signed to a minor-league deal by the Braves
The Braves have signed Pacheco to a minor-league deal, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports.
Pacheco will head to Triple-A Gwinnett where he will look to get back on track after a lackluster start to the season with the Reds. Pacheco elected to test free agency on Wednesday after the Reds outrighted him. Pacheco will slot behind A.J. Pierzynski and Tyler Flowers in the backstop pecking order.

Jordan Pacheco: Refuses outright and elects free agency
Pacheco refused an outright assignment and elected free agency Wednesday. This was done after the Reds activated him from the DL.
With Pacheco suffering a shoulder injury after going just 8-for-51 with zero home runs, zero RBI and only one run scored in 31 games this season, the Reds decided to try and cut ties and outright him. However, Pacheco was able to refuse the outright and elect free agency, meaning he will be able to chose his next team, but his lack of offensive skills are an inherent limitation to his fantasy value.

Reds' Jordan Pacheco: Heads to DL
Pacheco (shoulder) was placed on the DL Tuesday, retroactive to June 3.
The 30-year-old catcher hasn't played a major league game since June 1 due to right shoulder tendinitis and it is now clear that the injury is severe enough to send him to the DL. He had been struggling mightily the month prior, going 4-for-36 (.111) with 13 strikeouts since Apr. 21 so some time off to recover physically and mentally could be exactly what he needs to get his season back on track.

Pacheco was replaced by Eugenio Suarez Tuesday, who will start at third and bat sixth. Pacheco has been in a slump lately, not getting a hit in his last seven at-bats, over a time span of five games. His slashline in 2016 is a currently at a dismal .174/.174/.261.

Reds' Jordan Pacheco: Unable to deliver at plate
Pacheco has eight hits, four of which were doubles, after 41 at-bats this season.
With the struggling Reds 40 games into the 2016 campaign, Pacheco has yet to find his groove. He has struck out in 24.4 percent of his at-bats and is hitting .195, the lowest batting average of his career. While it's too soon to say Pacheco won't be able to recover from his slow start, his numbers have continued to fall as he is 3-for-19 in the month of May.

Pacheco's chances of making the roster were significantly improved after Rule 5 pick Jake Cave was placed on waivers. Having secured a roster spot, the main question now is playing time, as Pacheco will have to compete with Devin Mesoraco and Tucker Barnhart for reps behind the plate, though he has been used at the corner infield spots throughout his career.

Reds' Jordan Pacheco: Has better chance to make team with Cave gone
Pacheco has a better chance of making the Opening Day roster after Rule 5 draft pick Jake Cave was placed on waivers Thursday, the Cincinnati Enquirer's C. Trent Rosecrans reports.
Pacheco is pretty low in the pecking order of Reds catchers, but he has played first base, second base, third base, and left field in his career, making him a valuable bench utility asset. Now that Cave is not going to be taking up a roster spot, the 30-year-old's odds of garnering a bench role are significantly higher, although it won't necessarily translate to much fantasy success.

Pacheco agreed to a minor league contract with the Reds on Friday that includes an invitation to spring training.
Pacheco entered 2015 in contention for playing time behind the dish after the Diamondbacks sent Miguel Montero to the Cubs, but injuries and poor play led to the Diamondbacks looking elsewhere. The veteran did bat .242/.333/.333 with two home runs last season, however, and did enough to earn himself an invite to spring training with the Reds, where he'll face an uphill battle to earn a major league roster spot out of spring training.
