Jordany Valdespin: Cut loose by Twins
Valdespin (undisclosed) was activated from the 7-day IL at Triple-A Rochester and released by the Twins last Friday.
The 31-year-old missed a month due to injury and the Twins opted against adding him back to the roster at Triple-A. Valdespin's .294/.343/.444 slash line with Rochester this season looks pretty good at a glance, but offense is way up at that level; those numbers are just OK in context with the rest of the league (99 wRC+). A major leaguer from 2012-2015, Valdespin was gone from affiliated baseball the last couple years and this may be it for him.

Twins' Jordany Valdespin: Latches on with Twins
Valdespin signed a minor-league contract with the Twins on Wednesday, Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reports.
After a brief stint in the Mexican League, Valdespin spent 2018 with the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League, slashing .338/.399/.487 with 12 homers and 30 stolen bases in 113 games. The 31-year-old hasn't appeared in the majors since 2015 and owns a career .216/.271/.369 triple-slash across parts of four big-league campaigns (214 games), so he isn't anything more than organizational depth.

Jordany Valdespin: Signs with Atlantic League club
Valdespin agreed to a deal with Long Island of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports.
Valdespin last played for Triple-A Toledo within the Tigers' organization in 2016. He appeared in 101 games for the Mud Hens, slashing .239/.292/.321 with three home runs, 25 RBI and 10 stolen bases. The 30-year-old should remain off the fantasy radar moving forward, as he's a long shot to impress enough to work his way back onto a 25-man MLB roster.

Tigers' Jordany Valdespin: Agrees to minor league deal with Tigers
Valdespin agreed to a minor league contract with the Tigers on Tuesday, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.
A day out from his 28th birthday, Valdespin has a new home in the Tigers' organization. His ceiling as a Quad-A type is well established entering 2016, as Valdespin has bounced between Triple-A and the majors for the better part of four seasons. He made just two major-league appearances in 2015 on a Miami club that was without Giancarlo Stanton and Christian Yelich for long stretches.
