Humberto Quintero: Released by Blue Jays on Monday
Quintero was released by the Blue Jays on Monday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet reports.
Quintero failed to make the big league roster out of spring training, and it appears that the Blue Jays didn't feel the veteran backstop was worth stashing in the minors any longer. There may be a small market for Quintero, although his best bet is catching on with a team as organizational catching depth.

Blue Jays' Humberto Quintero: Struggles in spring training
Quintero batted 1-for-9 this spring with five strikeouts, ending up fifth on Toronto's catching depth chart.
The 36-year-old had a somewhat respectable 2015 with Triple-A Pawtucket, where he posted a .257/.284/.354 slash line, but his lack of production at the plate this spring will have him at Triple-A Buffalo to begin the season. Quintero hasn't played in the majors since 2014, a situation that will likely continue for the duration of his career.
