Braves' Josh Collmenter: Outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett
Collmenter cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday, Grant McAuley of 92.9 The Game reports.
Since reaching the majors in 2011, Collmenter has managed to finish each season with an ERA below 3.80. However, the current campaign has been a challenge for the 31-year-old righty, as he currently owns an ERA and WHIP of 9.00 and 2.06, respectively. He'll look to get back on track with Gwinnett and earn another shot in the big leagues.

Braves' Josh Collmenter: Designated for assignment
Collmenter was designated for assignment by the Braves on Thursday.
Collmenter had been with the Braves since the start of the season, accumulating 17 innings across 11 appearances. Wednesday's horrific outing was the last straw, however, as the 31-year-old surrendered seven earned runs to bring his ERA up 9.00 on the year. The long ball has been especially troublesome, as Collmenter has allowed seven on the year, with three of them coming in Wednesday's outing.

Braves' Josh Collmenter: Annihilated in 10th inning
Collmenter (0-2) gave up seven runs on six hits and a walk in the 10th inning of Wednesday's loss to the Pirates.
After the Pirates went ahead against him, manager Brian Snitker left Collmenter in to take his lumps and save the rest of the bullpen, and he proceeded to give up three homers in his inning of work. With his 9.00 ERA and 2.06 WHIP in mostly low-leverage work out of Atlanta's bullpen, it's hard to imagine the sort of fantasy roster where Collmenter might find a home.

Braves' Josh Collmenter: Available to pitch Friday
Collmenter will be available to pitch in Friday's game against the Phillies, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Collmenter pitched three shutout innings Wednesday against the Nationals, but he did give up five hits and a walk in that game. Collmenter is typically used in extended relief situations, but those looking for a source of strikeouts will want to look elsewhere. For his career, Collmenter has career K/9 of just 6.3.

Braves' Josh Collmenter: Serves up two homers Friday
Collmenter gave up two runs on three hits over two innings while striking out one in Friday's loss to the Pirates.
The runs came on solo shots by David Freese and Francisco Cervelli, not exactly the heart of Pittsburgh's order. Homers are an ongoing issue for Collmenter, but the junkballing righty usually manages to limit the damage at season's end. He'll remain in a long-relief role for the Braves for the time being.

Braves' Josh Collmenter: Strikes out five Wednesday
Collmenter got the start in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Mets and allowed one run on four hits while striking out five over five innings.
He's set for a long-relief role with the Braves this season, but Collmenter has still put together a strong spring, posting a 2.81 ERA and 10:1 K:BB in 16 innings. The team has younger arms like Matt Wisler and Aaron Blair available at Triple-A Gwinnett should a long-term vacancy open up in its rotation, but Collmenter could see the occasional spot start as Atlanta looks to keep veterans like R.A. Dickey and Bartolo Colon fresh during the season.

Braves' Josh Collmenter: Looks good in spring debut
Collmenter threw two shutout innings in Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals, allowing two hits.
He came on in relief of Mike Foltynewicz, and long relief seems to be the job Collmenter is ticketed for this season after the Braves bolstered their rotation over the winter. The 31-year-old can barely break 85 mph with his fastball, but despite his lack of raw stuff he's never posted an ERA over 3.79, or a WHIP over 1.26, in six big league seasons, and he should be able to provide effective innings out of the Braves' bullpen in 2017.

Braves' Josh Collmenter: Signs contract with Braves on Monday
Collmenter agreed to a one-year deal with the Braves on Monday, avoiding arbitration, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
After joining the Braves toward the end of last season, Collmenter proved to be a solid starter for Atlanta, going 2-0 with a 2.37 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP. The right-hander should be able to compete for a rotation spot if he can perform anywhere near this level during spring training.
