Mets' Arquimedes Caminero: Heads to minors
The Mets assigned Caminero to their minor-league camp Tuesday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
With 149 career major-league appearances, Caminero was one of the more seasoned relievers vying for a bullpen gig at big-league camp. After spending the past two seasons in Japan before inking a minor-league deal with the Mets over the winter, Caminero struggled to make an impression this spring. He was lit up for seven runs (six earned) on six hits and two walks over 3.1 innings across four appearances.

Mets' Arquimedes Caminero: Returns stateside
Caminero signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on Thursday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
Caminero spent the past two seasons in Japan, compiling a 3.18 ERA and 84:29 K:BB across 82 innings of relief. The veteran right-hander last pitched in the majors in 2016, when he posted a combined 3.56 ERA and 50:33 K:BB in 60.2 innings with the Pirates and Mariners. He'll compete for a middle relief role in spring training.

Arquimedes Caminero: Granted release to play in Japan
The Mariners granted Caminero his release Friday to allow him to pursue an opportunity in Japan.
Caminero throws gas but hasn't been able to put the ball in the strike zone with consistency in four major league seasons. The right-hander made 57 appearances between Pittsburgh and Seattle in 2016, posting a 50:33 K:BB over 60.2 innings. He turns 30 in June.

Mariners' Arquimedes Caminero: Bad night turns rout into close game
Caminero allowed four runs (one earned), four hits and a walk in two-thirds of an inning Friday to turn a rout into a close game that forced the Mariners to use two more pitchers, including closer Edwin Diaz.
In Caminero's defense, he should have been out of the inning with only one run scoring -- and that came on a double-play -- but an error kept the inning alive. He then gave up a double, a single and a walk and was yanked. Two more runs scored after he left. Caminero throws in the high-90s and touches 100 mph, but lately he has not been reliable. In his last nine outings (8.2 innings), he's allowed 17 hits, 13 runs, four walks (one intentional) and two homers with six strikeouts.

Mariners' Arquimedes Caminero: Added to 25-man roster
Caminero was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Monday, Shannon Drayer of MYNorthwest.com reports.
Caminero is officially on Seattle's 25-man roster as Taijuan Walker was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move. Caminero owns a respectable 3.51 ERA this season, but has struggled to keep the opposition off base as his WHIP and opponent batting average sit at 1.66 and .289, respectively.

Mariners' Arquimedes Caminero: Traded to Mariners
Caminero was traded to the Mariners on Saturday for a player to be named later.
After struggling with command early on this season, Caminero has turned in some solid relief appearances since the start of July, compiling a 2.77 ERA and 0.85 WHIP over his last 13 innings for the Pirates. The 29-year-old right hander will bolster the Mariner's bullpen as the team begins the playoff push.

Pirates' Arquimedes Caminero: Better since DL stint
Caminero struck out four batters in two scoreless innings Friday against the A's.
Since returning from the DL on June 11, Caminero has posted a 1.42 ERA with an 11:6 K:BB in 12.2 innings. He's still slotted as a middle reliever, but the improvement he's shown has likely saved his spot in the bullpen.

Pirates' Arquimedes Caminero: Activated off 15-day DL Saturday
Caminero (quadriceps) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Saturday, Travis Sawchik of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
After some struggles in his first rehab outing, Caminero settled down and tossed three scoreless frames in the following two appearances. The 28-year-old reliever has done enough for the Pirates to deem him healthy, and he will retake his spot in the bullpen as a result. The club sent Kyle Lobstein and Cole Figueroa to the minors in corresponding moves to open up spots on the 25-man roster for both Caminero and Rob Scahill.

Pirates' Arquimedes Caminero: Begins rehab assignment Friday
Caminero (quadriceps) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.
The Pirates placed Caminero on the DL last week with a left quad strain, but he appears on track to return when first eligible or shortly thereafter. Caminero throws his fastball in the upper 90s, but he hasn't had a clue where it's going this season, with his walk rate ballooning to nearly 15 percent.

Pirates' Arquimedes Caminero: Throws off slope
Caminero (quad) has thrown off a slope successfully and is getting close to a rehab assignment, Stephen J. Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Caminero will look to improve on his 5.19 ERA and 2.13 WHIP when he returns from the DL. More information regarding the status of his recovery will likely be available once he partakes in a rehab assignment.

Pirates' Arquimedes Caminero: Headed to DL with quad strain
Caminero was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with a left quad strain.
It's unclear when the injury occurred, but the injury is apparently severe enough to send Caminero to the DL. This injury may also explain his recent struggles, including the horrific outing Tuesday where he hit two players with pitches. Whatever the case is, the right-hander will get some time off to nurse his ailment and might even get a chance to get some pitching experience against minor league hitters in a rehab assignment. There is currently no timetable for his return, although that may become clearer as he advances in his rehab process. To fill his spot on the major league roster, left-hander Kyle Lobstein was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Pirates' Arquimedes Caminero: Struggles again Tuesday
Caminero allowed three hits and one walk in 1.2 innings Tuesday. He also hit two Arizona batters.
The Pirates gave Caminero an opportunity to throw with an 11-run lead, but things didn't go smoothly. The hard-throwing righty plunked a pair of batters and was ejected from the game after hitting Jean Segura in the head. Caminero holds a 5.19 ERA in 17.1 innings, but it's really his 2.13 WHIP which is a cause for concern. It wouldn't be surprising to see the Pirates part ways with him in the near future.

Pirates' Arquimedes Caminero: On shaky ground
Caminero faced one batter Tuesday, allowing a two-run homer to Mallex Smith on a 98-mph fastball.
The hard-throwing righty has given up at least one hit in each of his last six appearances and is falling out of favor in Pittsburgh's bullpen. Caminero holds a 5.52 ERA, 2.05 WHIP and 13:11 K:BB in 14.2 innings. He's blessed with a blazing fastball but hitters have had little trouble squaring it up -- he's permitted three home runs already. Caminero is in real jeopardy of losing his roster spot unless he begins to show signs of improvement.

Pirates' Arquimedes Caminero: Notches first career save Sunday
Caminero earned his first career save Sunday, striking out two in a scoreless 13th inning against Arizona.
Two of the three batters he retired were pinch-hitting pitchers, but he'll take the save in a crazy, five-hour-plus contest. The righty has struggled with his control -- he entered Sunday with eight walks in nine innings -- but his clean outing against the Diamondbacks could help him regain the team's trust.

Pirates' Arquimedes Caminero: Makes short order of Cards
Caminero hurled a scoreless sixth inning Tuesday, striking out one batter while reaching 98 mph.
His lone punchout came courtesy of a breaking ball looking, a positive sign from the flamethrower. Caminero needed just seven pitches (five for strikes) to retire the Cardinals. He probably won't have much fantasy impact unless the team suffers injuries to Mark Melancon and Tony Watson.
