Diamondbacks' Daniel Fields: Inks deal with Diamondbacks
Fields signed a minor league contract with Arizona, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
The 26-year-old was released by the Dodgers last August after he slashed .250/.324/.375 in 32 at-bats with their Triple-A affiliate during part of last season. Across three levels in the minors during 2016, Fields struggled to a slash line of just .215/.307/.288 in 177 at-bats. He will serve as organizational depth for the Diamondbacks in 2017.

White Sox's Daniel Fields: Signed by Dodgers
Fields was signed by the Dodgers on Tuesday and assigned to Low-A Great Lakes, Eric Stephen of SB Nation reports.
The former White Sox outfielder has been a free agent since late May after a tough start to his spring in which he slashed a meager .216/.311/.267 at Triple-A Charlotte. In the wake of Carl Crawford being DFA'd, however, it's a potentially shrewd move by the Dodgers to take a flier on a 25-year-old outfielder to add some organizational depth.

White Sox's Daniel Fields: Optioned to Triple-A
Fields was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday, the Chicago Sun-Times' Daryl Van Schouwen reports.
The 25-year-old outfielder has pretty rough numbers at Triple-A in his career, so it stands to reason that he was not ready to hack it in big league camp. Look for him to provide organizational outfield depth this season.

Dodgers' Daniel Fields: Claimed by White Sox
Fields was claimed off waivers by the White Sox on Thursday, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Fields was placed on waivers after being DFA'd by the Dodgers on Dec. 30 to clear room on the 40-man roster for Scott Kazmir. He spent the majority of the 2015 season with the Tigers at Triple-A Toledo. He'll likely compete for a depth outfield spot in spring training.

Dodgers' Daniel Fields: Designated for assignment
Fields was designated for assignment Wednesday.
The Dodgers signed pitcher Scott Kazmir on Wednesday, prompting the club to designate Fields in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster. The 24-year-old outfielder spent most of the 2015 campaign in the Tigers organization, batting .228 with 25 doubles at Triple-A Toledo.

Dodgers' Daniel Fields: Claimed by Dodgers
Fields was claimed off waivers by the Dodgers on Monday.
The Brewers claimed Fields off waivers in early September, but obviously didn't see enough in him to feel he warranted keeping on the 40-man roster. The Dodgers appear willing to take that chance for the time being, however, but Fields' lack general power and speed requires he hit for a high average to be worthy of a 40-man spot. He didn't do so the last couple of seasons, and it will likely be a challenge for him to find his way to the majors unless he can turn things around relatively quickly.
