Marlins' Jeff Brigham: Takes loss vs. Blue Jays
Brigham (0-1) allowed three runs on four hits and four walks while striking out two across three innings as he was saddled with the loss Sunday against Toronto.
Brigham surrendered a run in the first inning followed by two more in the third before exiting his major-league debut. He managed to throw just 45 of 82 pitches for strikes before being pulled. Brigham's contract was selected Saturday from Triple-A New Orleans, and after Pablo Lopez (shoulder) landed on the 60-day disabled list, Brigham figures to remain in the starting rotation for the final month of the regular season. His next start lines up for Saturday against Pittsburgh.

Marlins' Jeff Brigham: Scheduled for MLB debut Sunday
Brigham's contract was selected from Triple-A New Orleans on Saturday. He'll make his major-league debut and start Sunday against Toronto, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
Brigham will take the rotation spot vacated by Pablo Lopez, who hit the 60-day disabled list with a right shoulder strain. If Brigham impresses, he could remain in the rotation for the rest of the season. The 26-year-old posted a 1.18 ERA in seven starts for Double-A Jacksonville and a 3.44 ERA in nine starts for Triple-A New Orleans, walking less than 6.5 percent of batters at each stop.

Jacob Brigham: Signs to stay in South Korea
Brigham signed a one-year, $500,000 contract to play for the Nexen Heroes in South Korea, the Yonhap news agency reports.
Brigham joined the Heroes after he was released by the Tigers last summer. He went 10-6 with a 4.38 ERA in 24 starts. It's possible he could return to MLB if he becomes a star in South Korea, but the odds are low since he'll be 30 years old next season.

Marlins' Jeff Brigham: Throwing well since return from shoulder injury
Brigham threw six scoreless innings with four strikeouts Monday for High-A Jupiter. He has a 1.53 ERA and 12:5 K:BB in three starts since returning from a shoulder injury.
Brigham began the season in extended spring training after dealing with a sore shoulder. At age 25 in High-A, he's not a top prospect but could be a late bloomer if he can increase his strikeout rate (8.2 K/9 last season, 6.3 K/9 this season).

Marlins' Jeff Brigham: Held back with shoulder injury
Brigham was held back in extended spring training to rehab a shoulder injury, MLB.com's Mike Rosenbaum reports.
A 25-year-old who has yet to pitch above High-A, Brigham is a fringe prospect, and that might be putting it nicely. He will likely report to Double-A Jacksonville when healthy.

Tigers' Jacob Brigham: Signs minor league deal with Tigers
Brigham signed a minor league deal with the Tigers on Friday, Baseball America's Matt Eddy reports.
Brigham spent 2016 pitching in Japan. Prior to that he posted an 8.64 ERA and 2.16 WHIP in 16.2 big league innings and his minor league strikeout rates have been pretty mediocre. Look for him to serve as organizational bullpen depth in 2017.
