White Sox's Donn Roach: Gets starting nod for spring opener
Roach will toe the rubber for the White Sox's first Cactus League game Saturday against the Dodgers, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Roach will get the starting nod for the White Sox first game, though it's unlikely to mean much moving forward. The right-hander looked good at Triple-A to start last season, but he faded when he spent the second half in Japan. As things stand now, he is likely an organizational depth arm.

White Sox's Donn Roach: Back with White Sox
Roach signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Monday that includes an invitation to spring training.
The 29-year-old finished out the 2018 campaign in Japan after spending the first half of the season with the White Sox's Triple-A affiliate. While Roach posted a solid 2.65 ERA in 95 innings with Triple-A Charlotte, he struggled to a 5.01 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 19:15 K:BB across 50.1 innings with the Orix Buffaloes.

Donn Roach: Released by White Sox
Roach was cut loose by the White Sox on Thursday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Roach was granted his release in order to pursue an opportunity in Japan. Across 16 games with Triple-A Charlotte this year, Roach logged a 2.65 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 61 strikeouts in 95 innings.

Roach agreed to a minor-league contract with the White Sox in January, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
A veteran of 21 career appearances (two starts) in the majors, Roach spent the 2017 campaign in the KBO League with KT Wiz, accruing a 4-15 record, 4.69 ERA and 1.58 WHIP across 165 innings. The 28-year-old will likely provide pitching depth for the White Sox at the Triple-A level in 2018.

Roach will join the A's after being designated for assignment by the Tigers on Saturday. Roach has options remaining, so the A's were able to assign him to Triple-A Nashville, where he will provide depth during the team's minor-league postseason run.

Roach was recently DFA'd by the Mariners to clear space for the ambidextrous Pat Venditte, but he didn't have to wait long to find a landing spot. He'll join the Tigers' organization, but he won't start at the major league level. Instead, the Tigers optioned him to Triple-A Toledo after claiming him off waivers.

Roach was optioned back to Triple-A Tacoma prior to Seattle's game Thursday.
Roach was only with the team for a few days after coming up Monday, but appeared in Tuesday's contest against the Red Sox, giving up one earned run during two innings of work. The 26-year-old will head back to Tacoma, where he has amassed a 4.21 ERA over the course of 17 starts this season. Roach may get called up again by the team later this season.

Mariners' Donn Roach: Favorite for last bullpen job
Roach is the heavy favorite to win the last bullpen job, if the Mariners don't acquire a more experienced right-handed reliever, the Tacoma News Tribune reports.
Roach has had a fantastic spring, allowing only two earned runs in 15.2 innings with 15 strikeouts and no walks. Mostly a starter in the minors, Roach, 26, has appeared in only 17 major league games, 15 as a reliever. The Mariners have talked to other teams about trading for a right-hander, but Roach has impressed. "Obviously, Donn Roach has been the surprise of camp," manager Scott Servais said. "He's thrown the ball very well. As you know, at the end of spring training, there are a lot of transactions, a lot of movement amongst clubs. We could have some additions yet to come in. I don't know." If he makes the team, he'll pitch middle relief.

Donn Roach: Signs minor league deal with Mariners
Roach signed a minor league deal with the Mariners on Monday that also included an invite to spring training, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.
Although Roach will likely start the 2016 season in the Tacoma rotation, he will have a chance to prove himself during spring training. Roach spent most of the 2015 season in the minor leagues for three different organizations.
