  • Rangers' Taylor Jungmann: Cut by Texas

The Rangers released Jungmann on Monday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Following a two-year stay in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball, Jungmann returned stateside in 2020 after signing a minor-league deal with the Rangers in February. The right-hander was expected to provide rotation depth at Triple-A Nashville, but he'll instead move on from the Rangers organization without having ever pitched in a regular-season game for any affiliate.

  • Rangers' Taylor Jungmann: Inks minors deal with Rangers

Jungmann signed a minor league contract with the Rangers on Tuesday.

Jungmann's big-league career lasted three seasons with the Brewers from 2015-17, recording a 4.54 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 126:65 K:BB across 146.2 total innings. The 30-year-old spent the last two years pitching in the Nippon Professional Baseball League in Japan for the Yomiuri Giants. Jungmann will report to Texas' minor league camp this spring and work towards earning a spot in the Rangers' bullpen moving forward.

  • Taylor Jungmann: Released by Milwaukee

Jungmann was released by the Brewers on Wednesday in order to make room for Boone Logan on the 40-man roster.

In addition, the team stated that Jungmann was "granted his release to pursue an opportunity in Japan." The 29-year-old first-round pick of the Brewers in 2011, Jungmann only appeared in 30 major-league games for the club since being drafted in 2011, and spent a majority of last season with Triple-A Colorado Springs. He fared well with the Sky Sox, posting a 2.59 ERA and 1.20 WHIP over 90.1 innings, but only pitched in one game for the Brewers in 2017.

  • Brewers' Taylor Jungmann: Sent down to Double-A Biloxi

Jungmann was optioned to Double-A Biloxi, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

The Brewers picked up Nick Franklin off waivers and opted to clear up a spot on their 25-man roster by sending Jungmann back to their Double-A affiliate. Jungmann has pitched just 0.2 innings for the big club this season, during which he's allowed one run.

  • Brewers' Taylor Jungmann: Makes Opening Day roster

Jungmann was named to the Brewers' Opening Day roster Saturday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Jungmann was shut down near the end last season with a minor hip injury, but he entered camp healthy this year and pitched himself onto the Opening Day roster. The 27-year-old posted a 2.45 ERA with 14 strikeouts across 14.2 innings this spring. He'll work out of the bullpen in 2017.

  • Brewers' Taylor Jungmann: Could make club as reliever

Jungmann will be given a chance to make the big league club in a relief role this spring, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Tom Haudricourt reports.

He was shut down at the end of the season with a minor hip injury, but will enter camp healthy and with a chance to compete for a bullpen spot. It seems like Jungmann is no longer viewed internally as a viable long-term rotation option, and therefore carries very little fantasy value going forward. He made two relief appearances last year, striking out two over two perfect frames, but has very little professional experience out of the bullpen.

  • Brewers' Taylor Jungmann: Will not make next start

Jungmann will not make his next scheduled start Friday against the Rockies due to a hip injury, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

It's unclear when or how the ailment came about, but it must be bothering the right-hander significantly if it's already ruled him out for the weekend series. With that start out of the picture, Jungmann will finish the season with a 7.76 ERA and 1.76 WHIP over six starts and two relief appearances. The 26-year-old will likely compete for a spot in the rotation next spring training, but he'll have to improve dramatically if he wants to have any chance of grabbing a spot on the major league roster.

  • Brewers' Taylor Jungmann: Takes loss in first MLB start since April

Jungmann (0-5) allowed two runs on three hits, but he also walked four over four innings and lost against the Reds on Saturday.

He looked better than he did in his last MLB start back in April, but there were still causes for concern. Besides the second, Jungmann allowed two base runners per inning, and he yielded a home run to Joey Votto in the first. Since returning to the big leagues in the middle of September, Jungmann has a 3.00 ERA, 1.167 WHIP and five strikeouts versus four walks in six innings. He is scheduled to make another start next Saturday against Colorado.

  • Brewers' Taylor Jungmann: To join rotation Saturday vs. Reds

Jungmann will start Saturday's game against the Reds, MLB.com's Adam McCalvy reports.

This will be his first big league start since April, after struggling mightily with the Brewers and then with Triple-A Colorado Springs before righting the ship at Double-A. He has made two one-inning appearances out of the bullpen since joining the roster in September, so it's unclear how deep he will be allowed to go Saturday. Jungmann lines up to make two starts before the end of the season, but his struggles against big leaguers and Triple-A hitters earlier this season should scare off most prospective owners from streaming him down the stretch.

  • Brewers' Taylor Jungmann: Rejoins big league roster

The Brewers recalled Jungmann from Double-A Biloxi on Tuesday.

Jungmann has had a trying season to say the least, as he opened the season in the Brewers' rotation but lost his spot, was rocked in the thin air of Colorado Springs, and then required a multi-week break to get his confidence back. However, he will get to end things on a high note, as he is back with the big club after posting a 2.51 ERA over 13 starts with Biloxi. There is plenty of uncertainty surrounding Jungmann moving forward, but he will get one more chance to show the Brewers what he can do in 2016.

  • Brewers' Taylor Jungmann: Reassigned to Double-A

Jungmann was reassigned to Double-A Biloxi on Thursday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Jungmann has experienced massive struggles at both the MLB and Triple-A levels this season, leading to him taking a "mental break" from pitching earlier this month. After spending time at the organization's facility in Arizona, Jungmann will return to the mound for Biloxi, where he'll be active and available Thursday night. At this point, the Brewers can't expect to get much, if anything, from Jungman this season, so they'll likely bring him along slowly as he attempts to rediscover his big-league form.

  • Brewers' Taylor Jungmann: Taking a break from pitching

Jungmann was sent to the Brewers spring training facility in Arizona to take what was described as a "mental break" from pitching, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Jungmann posted a 9.15 ERA over five starts in the majors this season, and didn't fare much better at Triple-A, posting a 9.87 mark over eight games started. Some of those numbers can be blamed on the hitter-friendly environment in Colorado Springs, but five of those starts were on the road, so the performance of Jungmann has certainly played a role. The team hasn't disclosed an exact plan for Jungmann's "rehab," but it will likely involve some combination of simulated games and bullpen sessions, all in an effort to get the 26-year-old back on track.

  • Brewers' Taylor Jungmann: Optioned to Triple-A on Friday

Jungmann was optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Friday.

Jungmann struggled mightily so far this season, currently holding am 0-4 record with a 9.15 ERA and 1.94 WHIP. Although it is a rebuilding year for Milwaukee, the Brewers thought it would be best to send him to the minors and build up his confidence again. He'll slot into the Triple-A rotation and could return to the majors fairly soon if he is more successful with the Triple-A club. To take his spot on the 25-man roster, right-hander David Goforth was recalled from Triple-A.

  • Brewers' Taylor Jungmann: Can't escape fourth inning in loss to Cubs

Jungmann (0-4) was ripped for five runs on six hits over just 3.2 innings against the Cubs on Thursday. He walked three and struck out just two.

Pretty much everything Jungmann did well last season, he's bungling so far this year -- his velocity is down, his strikeouts are down, his walks are way up (13:13 K:BB), he's giving up more homers, he's stranding fewer runners, and he's allowing harder contact overall. In short, this April has been an unmitigated disaster for the 26-year-old, and it wouldn't be shocking to see him end up in the minors for some fixing soon.

  • Brewers' Taylor Jungmann: Scheduled start postponed

Jungmann will not start as scheduled Wednesday with the news that Wednesday's matchup with the Cubs has been postponed.

While Jungmann will not take the mound Wednesday, he will not have to wait long to do so, as he has already been announced as the starting pitcher for Thursday's matinee matchup with the Cubs, according to Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

  • Brewers' Taylor Jungmann: Loses third consecutive outing

Jungmann (0-3) remained winless while picking up his third loss of 2016 in Thursday's game against the Twins. He pitched four innings, allowing three runs, four hits and six walks while striking out two.

Despite the former first rounder's success last season, it is hard to be certain that his place in the team's rotation is safe. In his last three starts, Jungmann has allowed 15 runs and 18 hits while walking eight. The right-hander has been so bad that Thursday's outing actually improved his ERA, which now sits at 8.47.

  • Brewers' Taylor Jungmann: Falls to 0-2

Jungmann (0-2) allowed four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out six over six innings, but took the loss Saturday at Pittsburgh.

Jungmann got off to a fast start and was able to keep the Pirates off the scoreboard through three innings before getting touched up for three runs in the fourth inning of a game he received no offensive support. After posting a solid start in his first outing, he's now allowed 12 runs over his last eight innings of work covering two outings. He'll make his next start Thursday against the Twins.
