L.J. Hoes: Suspended 50 games
Hoes was suspended 50 games for testing positive for a drug of abuse for the second time, Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.
Hoes is currently an unsigned free agent, so the suspension will stick if a team decides to pick him up. He hasn't been in the majors since 2015, when he slashed .267/.313/.267 in eight games with the Astros. The 25-year-old spent all of last season with Triple-A Norfolk, and with his slash line of .242/.318/.331 in 396 at-bats coupled with his suspension, it may take time before he is picked up by anyone.

Orioles' L.J. Hoes: Sent to minor league camp
Hoes was sent to minor league camp after Friday's game, MASN Sports reports.
Hoes finished the spring at a 10-for-36 clip with no extra-base hits. He will fall in to some thick outfield competition at Triple-A with Daniel Alvarez, Henry Urrutia, Christian Walker and perhaps others. Hoes has seen abbreviated appearances at the big league level each of the last four seasons with the Orioles and Astros, but his prospect status appears to be fading. His best tool is his speed and he does not hit for enough average or power to be worthy of an extended look.

Orioles' L.J. Hoes: Receives invitation to spring training
Hoes received an invitation to spring training Thursday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Hoes was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk earlier today, but the Orioles still want the 25-year-old to stick around camp for spring training. The various offseason signings make it doubtful that Hoes will have a spot on the 25-man roster of the Orioles, so he'll likely head back to the minors after spring training.

Orioles' L.J. Hoes: Clears waivers, outrighted to Norfolk
Hoes cleared waivers Thursday and has been outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Hoes saw just 15 at-bats with Houston in the 2015 campaign, spending the majority of the season with the club's Triple-A affiliate. He had some success at that level last season (.295/.383/.400 batting line with three home runs and 53 RBI in 99 games), and while this move trends him in the wrong direction, there's still a chance the 25-year-old outfielder will be in a major league camp for spring training either with the Orioles or another team.

Orioles' L.J. Hoes: Designated for assignment
Hoes was designated for assignment Tuesday.
The Orioles acquired Efren Navarro in a trade earlier in the day, so Hoes was a casualty of needing to clear space on the 40-man roster. The move comes as somewhat of a surprise, as he was expected to be given the chance to make the big league roster out of spring training, but it now appears more likely he'll start the year in the minors.

Orioles' L.J. Hoes: Will attempt to make team as backup outfielder
Hoes will be given a chance to make the Orioles roster this spring, MASN Sports reports.
Hoes was traded back to his original organization two weeks ago when the Astros needed to free a roster spot. The Orioles may still have moves to make, but Hoes can bring speed and plate discipline to the table. He had 26 steals in 99 games at Triple-A last season, along with 52 walks and just 62 strikeouts.

Hoes was traded to the Orioles in exchange for cash considerations on Wednesday, Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.
Hoes was DFA'd by the Astros in November, despite a fairly strong year at Triple-A Fresno, where he hit .295/.383/.400 with 26 seals. The 25-year-old has appeared in 112 major league games, and while he's yet to prove he's an everyday outfielder, he's been effective enough to warrant spot starts off the bench.

Hoes was designated for assignment by the Astros on Friday, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Despite a .295/.383/.400 batting line and 26 steals with Triple-A Fresno, Hoes was not included among the Astros' September callups, and he's now been bumped from the 40-man in favor of a more promising young player. The 25-year-old has done little in 112 career games in the majors, but he could draw some interest from teams looking for a fifth outfielder.
