Chris Heston: Rebounding from shoulder surgery
Heston, who underwent shoulder surgery last summer, hopes to be fully healthy by January and hold a showcase for MLB teams ahead of spring training, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
After being released from the Giants' Double-A affiliate at Richmond last July, Heston didn't sign with another organization while on the mend from surgery. Given that he'll be 32 years old in April and had modest career numbers at the MLB level prior to requiring the major arm operation, Heston may have settle for a minor-league deal even if he looks good during his showcase.

Giants' Chris Heston: In midst of rehab assignment
Heston (undisclosed) made his fifth rehab appearance Tuesday for one of the Giants' rookie-level Arizona League affiliates, tossing a scoreless inning.
Heston opened the season at Triple-A Sacramento, covering 3.1 innings in an April 9 start. He has been sidelined with the injury ever since, though he appears to be closing in on a return from the 7-day disabled list after beginning his rehab assignment June 20.

Giants' Chris Heston: Heads back to San Francisco
Heston agreed to a minor-league contract with the Giants on Wednesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Heston spent the 2017 season bouncing around between a trio of organizations, finally finishing the campaign with the Twins' Triple-A affiliate. The 29-year-old will return to San Francisco, where he spent the first eight years of his career, up until last season. In total, he's pitched in 41 major-league games but has only appeared in seven over the last two seasons, and will likely begin this upcoming year at the Triple-A level.

Twins' Chris Heston: Activated from minor-league DL
Heston (shoulder) was activated from the 7-day DL at Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.
He pitched five innings for the Twins' GCL team on Monday, clearing the final hurdle on his road back from a bout of shoulder tendinitis. Heston has posted a 7.63 ERA with Rochester, and he's mostly struggled with other affiliates this season. Further, the 29-year-old is not on the 40-man roster, so he will need to finish strong over the rest of August to have a chance at a September callup.

Twins' Chris Heston: Lands on disabled list
Heston will head to the minor-league DL with right shoulder tendinitis, Brandon Warne of Zone Coverage reports.
Heston made just one appearance with the Twins after getting claimed by the team in early June. Since then, the 29-year-old has been sent down, DFA'd and roughed up a few times with Triple-A Rochester. It is unlikely that Heston resurfaces in the majors this season, and he'll be out for the foreseeable future while he recovers from this injury.

Heston was originally thought to be an option to make a spot start in Saturday's doubleheader with the Indians, but after being bypassed for the start by Adam Wilk, Heston will end up being the roster casualty to allow Wilk to make said start. Heston has plenty of MLB experience to his name, which could make him an attractive option to other teams while he's exposed to waivers.

Heston could be recalled to start one game of Saturday's doubleheader with the Indians, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.
Heston, acquired on a recent waiver claim, was sent back to the minors on Monday, but he could head back to the big leagues to start Saturday now that Hector Santiago (shoulder) is unlikely to be ready to go by then. The right-hander has spent much of his career as a starter and is only a couple years removed from a season where he posted a 3.95 ERA in the Giants' rotation.

Twins' Chris Heston: Optioned to Triple-A
Heston was optioned to Triple-A Rochester on Monday, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.
After being claimed off waivers last week, Heston made his Twins debut Sunday against the Giants, tossing a scoreless inning in relief. Since the Twins have a few bullpen arms capable of covering multiple innings when necessary, the team didn't have a need to carry an extra long reliever, so Heston will head back to the minors to make room for shortstop Jorge Polanco (personal), who was activated from the bereavement list Monday in a corresponding move.

Heston was claimed by the Twins, and will be in Seattle for Minnesota's game Wednesday night, Phil Miller of the Star Tribune reports.
Heston was recently picked up off waivers by the Dodgers after being designated for assignment by Seattle in late May, and now the right-hander finds himself with the Twins. He has only seen the mound twice this season, allowed a combined 11 earned runs off 14 hits over the course of 5 innings. The 29-year-old threw a no-hitter two years ago, but will be fortunate to latch on in a relief role with Minnesota this season.

Dodgers' Chris Heston: Picked up by Dodgers
Heston was claimed off waivers by the Dodgers on Friday, Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Heston was designated for assignment by the Mariners on Wednesday, but the Dodgers were quick to swipe him off waivers. The right-hander is a long way from his breakout season in 2015, but he has proven to be a serviceable starter in the minors this season, sporting a 3.41 ERA through six starts with Seattle's Triple-A affiliate. He'll likely act as organizational pitching depth, although he could move to the big leagues if injuries continue to plague LA's pitching staff.

Mariners' Chris Heston: Removed from 40-man roster
Heston was designated for assignment Wednesday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
The Mariners landed outfielder Andrew Alpin from the Astros on Wednesday, so in order to place him on the 40-man roster, someone needed to get the boot. Heston was ultimately the odd-man out after struggling significantly in the big leagues, so he'll work on regaining his confidence in a starting role with Triple-A Tacoma as an organizational depth piece.

Heston was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.
Heston was sent back to Tacoma after getting roughed up during his spot start against the White Sox on Sunday, allowing seven runs through three innings while walking four batters and only striking out two. Given that he has made two appearances for the big club this season and conceded 12 runs across just five innings, the Mariners may decide to look elsewhere should they need another spot starter. Emilio Pagan was recalled from Triple-A to take his spot on the roster for the time being.

Mariners' Chris Heston: Fails miserably in Sunday spot start
Heston (0-1), just recalled from Triple-A Tacoma, gave up seven earned runs on seven hits and four walks over three-plus innings in Sunday's 8-1 loss to the White Sox. He struck out two.
Heston was nowhere close to effective in his spot start, getting only 39 of his 72 pitches into the strike zone and providing no relief for a short-handed and fatigued Mariners bullpen. The right-hander gave up five runs in the first on a quartet of singles and a solo home run, and he allowed two more White Sox to cross the plate before exiting in the fourth. The 29-year-old has now given up 12 earned runs in the five innings spanning his two appearances for the Mariners this season, leading to a 21.60 ERA and 3.80 WHIP. With the Seattle rotation still down multiple starters, Heston could well take the mound again at Fenway Park versus the Red Sox next Friday.

Heston was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma and will draw the start Sunday against the White Sox, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.
With the Mariners' starting rotation in absolute ruins due to numerous injuries, Heston arrives to help. The righty has made six starts with Tacoma this season, posting a 3.41 ERA and 1.17 WHIP over 31.2 innings. The White Sox have struggled against right-handed pitchers this season, posting a collective .679 OPS against them, which is good for fourth-worst in the majors.

Mariners' Chris Heston: Impressive in Monday's win
Heston (2-0) fired a scoreless 5.2 innings in the Rainiers' 2-0 win over Sacramento on Sunday, giving up two hits and two walks. He struck out five.
It was a marked departure from Heston's only appearance with the big-league club this season, an April 25 outing in which he yielded five earned runs on seven hits and a walk over two innings against the Tigers. The 29-year-old right-hander figures to continue providing Tacoma's rotation with an experienced presence for the time being, although any injuries to the Mariners' rotation could eventually prompt another move up later this season.

Mariners' Chris Heston: Crushed in season debut
Heston gave up five runs on seven hits and a walk in just two innings of relief against Detroit on Tuesday.
He took a bad situation (Felix Hernandez struggling and then being removed early) and made it worse, helping the Tigers on their way to a 19-run evening. Heston was only just called up this weekend as a long-relief arm, and this outing could very well get him sent right back down.
