Padres' Paco Rodriguez: Agrees to MiLB deal
Rodriguez signed a minor-league deal with the Padres on Monday, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.
Rodriguez spent most of his 2018 season in Double-A, where he posted a 4.26 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 25.1 frames. He last pitched in the big leagues during the 2015 campaign, and although he found decent success (3.86 ERA over 14 innings), he hasn't managed to return since. After he was released by the Twins in August of last year, Rodriguez figures to serve as organizational depth for San Diego.

Rodriguez inked a minor-league deal with the Twins in May, but after accruing a 4.62 ERA and 1.43 WHIP with 19 strikeouts over 25 innings at Double-A Chattanooga, he'll search to latch on elsewhere.

Paco Rodriguez: Released by Braves
Rodriguez was released by the Braves on Tuesday, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's David O'Brien reports.
The lefty reliever was acquired from the Dodgers as part of the three-team July 2015 trade that brought outfielder Hector Olivera to the Braves from Los Angeles. He was not out of minor-league options, so the move to release him really speaks to what the Braves thought of his ability to help the club this season. The Braves now have three relievers --Kevin Chapman, Chaz Roe and David Hernandez -- competing for the final two spots in the bullpen.

Braves' Paco Rodriguez: Healthy to begin spring
Rodriguez appears healthy to begin the spring as he makes his way back from Tommy John surgery in September of 2015, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
The Braves could use a second lefty in their bullpen behind Ian Krol, and for now Rodriguez appears to be the favorite for the job if he has no setbacks in his recovery. He hasn't pitched since the surgery and has a lot of rust to get rid of, but the 25-year-old's career 9.6 K/9 rate indicates that he can be effective as a LOOGY despite a fastball that rarely touches 90 mph.

Rodriguez avoided arbitration with the Braves by agreeing to a one-year deal on Friday.
Rodriguez missed the entire 2016 season due to Tommy John surgery in September 2015. He should certainly factor into Atlanta's left-handed depth in the bullpen in 2017, but how big of a factor depends on when he can return to the mound and if he's able to show the same lefty-killing stuff he showed before the surgery with the Dodgers.

Rodriguez was placed on the 60-day DL on Saturday, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
The move is just a roster formality, as Rodriguez has already been ruled out for the entire 2016 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in late September.
