Michael Bolsinger: To pitch in Japan
Bolsinger has agreed to pitch with Chiba Lotte Marines in Japan for the 2018 season, the team's official Twitter account reports.
He was outrighted off the Blue Jays' 40-man roster in August, and opted for a steady paycheck in Japan over having to work his way back to the big leagues. The 29-year-old righty has a career 4.92 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 210 strikeouts in 230.2 MLB innings.

Blue Jays' Michael Bolsinger: Outrighted to Buffalo
Bolsinger was outrighted to Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday.
After clearing waivers earlier in the week, the Blue Jays will retain Bolsinger within their system as a member of their Triple-A club. Bolsinger owns a strong 1.60 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP across 41.3 innings at Triple-A this season.

Bolsinger, who was also DFA'd and sent to Triple-A in June, has had a rough 2017 campaign with the Blue Jays, posting a 6.31 ERA over 11 appearances (five starts) while struggling with command en route to 27 walks. After allowing four earned runs on four hits and three walks in Friday's blowout loss to Houston, the 29-year-old will likely find himself back in the minors -- assuming he clears waivers. Taylor Cole will take his spot in the Toronto bullpen.

Blue Jays' Michael Bolsinger: Could enter rotation following Liriano trade
Bolsinger could be moved into the Blue Jays' rotation after the team traded Francisco Liriano to the Astros on Monday, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.
Bolsinger was activated from the 10-day disabled list over the weekend after he was briefly sidelined due to right knee inflammation. He made an appearance in Sunday's win over the Angels, covering 2.1 innings and giving up one run. Though Bolsinger has submitted an underwhelming 5.49 ERA and 1.66 WHIP over 10 appearances (five starts) for the Blue Jays this season, there aren't many other appealing alternatives on the 40-man roster, so he could get the first crack at filling the void left by Liriano's departure. If that's the case, Bolsinger would have a tough test right off the bat, as he'd be in line for a road start against the American League-leading Astros this upcoming weekend.

It remains to be seen how serious this injury is for the right-hander after landing on the DL following Tuesday's loss. Bolsinger had his contract purchased from Triple-A Buffalo on Monday, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.
Bolsinger has pitched well for the Bisons recently, earning him a second shot with the Blue Jays this season. The 29-year-old compiled a 5.61 ERA and 1.79 WHIP across 25.2 innings in his first stint with the big club this season. He's served primarily as a starter this year, so he'll be able to offer some length out of Toronto's bullpen if that's where he ends up. Wednesday marked the second time this season that he cleared waivers prior to joining Buffalo. Although there were spurts of decency, Bolsinger's overall performance has been largely disappointing with the Jays in 2017. He's posted a 5.61 ERA and a 1.79 WHIP across 25.2 innings.

Bolsinger has struggled mightily in his past two seasons in the big leagues, and despite fanning seven hitters in Wednesday's no decision, there's simply no room for him on the roster with Francisco Liriano (shoulder) returning from the disabled list to start Friday. Bolsinger could create some intrigue on waivers given his experience and success in the minors, but it's tough to see him getting too many more shots in the big leagues until he proves he can sustain his success over a longer period of time. Leonel Campos will take his spot on the roster for the time being.

Bolsinger (0-2) allowed three runs on four hits and four walks over 5.1 innings while striking out seven Wednesday, settling for a no-decision in a 5-4 win over the Reds.
With Francisco Liriano (shoulder) on target to come off the DL for Friday's game against the Yankees, Bolsinger may well have made his last start for the Jays for the time being. Bolsinger (0-2) allowed three runs, two of which were earned, on six hits and four walks while striking out two over 4.2 innings, but didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Rangers.
Bolsinger struggled to keep runners off the basepaths, leading to his exit from the contest before he was able to finish five innings. He's failed to post a quality start in any of his four outings, and with a 5.75 ERA, he's not a recommended fantasy option. He'll make his next start Wednesday against the Reds.

Bolsinger allowed four runs on six hits and five walks while striking out five batters over 5.1 innings during Saturday's loss to Baltimore. He didn't factor into the decision.
With a 6.32 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 12:11 K/BB rate, Bolsinger will need to show more on the mound to warrant attention outside of the deepest fantasy settings. He threw just 56 of 102 pitches for strikes Saturday and is up to a 6.3 BB/9 for the year. Until Bolsinger shows better control, it'll be difficult for him to provide serviceable numbers. If he sticks in the rotation, a home date against Texas is on deck.

Bolsinger struggled with his location in this one, throwing 60 percent of his pitches for strikes but constantly operating under duress and allowing runs in four different innings. He particularly struggled in the fifth, allowing two runs as four straight men reached base before his removal with two outs. Bolsinger turned in a decent start in his season debut last week, but he came crashing down to earth in this one and will face another tough task on the road against the Orioles on Saturday.
