Dodgers' Erik Goeddel: Returns to DL
Goeddel was placed on the 10-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.
Goeddel had just been activated from the shelf, as he'd missed time due to a lat injury. He'll be eligible to return Aug. 28 against the Rangers, although it's unclear if he'll be held out for longer than the 10-day minimum. Daniel Hudson was reinstated from the disabled list in a corresponding move.

Dodgers' Erik Goeddel: Back from DL

He'll take the roster spot of Pat Venditte, who was sent to the minors in a corresponding roster move. Goeddel owns a solid 3.06 ERA across 35.1 big-league innings this season (between the Mariners and Dodgers).

Dodgers' Erik Goeddel: Extends scoreless streak in loss
Goeddel gave up a hit and a walk while striking out two over 1.2 scoreless innings in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Giants.
Goeddel has been quite the find for the Dodgers, going 13 consecutive outings without allowing a run. The 29-year-old has 16 strikeouts over those 14.1 innings, but he also has issued seven free passes as well, a pitching style that could hurt him down the road if he can't keep the walks in check. Goeddel hasn't been used in many high-pressure situations during his impressive run, and he should remain in middle relief moving forward.

Dodgers' Erik Goeddel: Claimed by Dodgers
Goeddel was claimed off waivers by the Dodgers on Friday, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
Goeddel had a 1.23 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with nine strikeouts over 7.1 innings before being designated for assignment by the Mariners on Wednesday, so it isn't overly surprising he didn't make it through waivers unclaimed. The 29-year-old will likely settle into a low-leverage role in the Dodgers bullpen for now.

Mariners' Erik Goeddel: Designated for assignment
Goeddel was designated for assignment Wednesday.
Goeddel had posted a 1.23 ERA in 7.1 innings for the Mariners so far this season, but somebody had to be removed from the 40-man roster in order to make room for Christian Bergman, who is set to make a spot start Wednesday. Goeddel has probably done enough to get claimed off waivers and fill a low-leverage role in another team's bullpen, but if not, he'll remain organizational depth for the Mariners.

Mariners' Erik Goeddel: Grabs second win of season
Goeddel (2-0) fired two scoreless frames in an extra-innings win over the Rangers on Tuesday, issuing three walks, uncorking a wild pitch and recording two strikeouts.
Goeddel struggled with his control, leading to him throwing an elevated 46 pitches. However, the 29-year-old right-hander was able to wiggle out of any potential trouble on his way to a third consecutive scoreless effort and second straight of the multi-inning variety. Goeddel has shown some nice strikeout upside over his first five outings, generating nine whiffs over the 7.1 innings encompassing that stretch.

Mariners' Erik Goeddel: Impressive in '18 debut
Goeddel struck out three over 1.2 scoreless innings in a loss to the Angels on Friday.
Just called up from Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday, the 29-year-old right-hander was put right to work and responded in stellar fashion. Goeddel got some valuable outs for manager Scott Servais after another abbreviated Mike Leake start, retiring five Angels on an efficient 24 pitches. The strong performance was an extension of the success Goeddel had been enjoying with the Rainiers, for which he'd posted nine scoreless frames before his promotion.

Mariners' Erik Goeddel: Joins Mariners on Thursday

Mariners' Erik Goeddel: Signs minor-league deal with Mariners
Goeddel signed a minor-league contract with the Mariners on Tuesday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
Goeddel had been in camp with the Rangers but was released Monday. The 29-year-old righty posted a 5.28 ERA in 29 innings with the Mets last season, though his xFIP was a respectable 3.98 and he struck out 27.1 percent of his batters faced. While he could be a big-league reliever, Goeddel is unlikely to be much of a fantasy asset.

Erik Goeddel: Granted release from Rangers
Goeddel was granted his release from the Rangers on Monday.
Goeddel wasn't expected to crack the Rangers' Opening Day roster after posting a 6.35 ERA across six spring appearances, so the right-hander has opted to look elsewhere for a major-league opportunity. He's coming off a lackluster 2017 campaign that saw him post a 5.28 ERA and 1.35 WHIP across 29 innings with the Mets, so it's possible he's forced to settle for another minor-league deal.

Rangers' Erik Goeddel: Will be stretched out in spring
The Rangers plan to stretch Goeddel out in spring training in an attempt to bolster the starting pitching depth in the organization T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
With Cole Hamels, Doug Fister, Matt Moore and Mike Minor expected to break camp as members of the rotation and Martin Perez (elbow) on track to round out the staff before long, it's unlikely that Goeddel gets a legitimate shake for a starting role with the big club to open the season. However, Goeddel's performance in the spring could determine whether he claims a rotation spot at Triple-A Round Rock, or if the Rangers deploy him in the familiar bullpen role he filled with the Mets the past four seasons. Goeddel last worked as a full-time starter in 2013 at Double-A Binghamton, submitting a 4.37 ERA and 8.4 K/9 rate across 134 innings.

Rangers' Erik Goeddel: Inks minor-league deal with Rangers
Goeddel signed a minor-league contract with the Rangers on Tuesday which includes an invitation to spring training.
Goeddel started the 2017 season in the minors before earning a promotion near the end of June and subsequently posting a 5.28 ERA and 1.35 WHIP across 29 innings out of the Mets' bullpen. He did strike out 33 batters over that span, and his solid strikeout potential could earn him a role in the Rangers' bullpen at some point in 2018.

Mets' Erik Goeddel: Heads to free agency
