Cardinals' Elniery Garcia: Dealt to St. Louis
Garcia was traded to the Cardinals on Thursday in exchange for international slot money, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports.
Garcia has struggled throughout the 2018 campaign with Double-A Reading, posting a 6.38 ERA and 1.92 WHIP in 10 appearances with the team. Across those outings, he's accumulated a pedestrian 6.2 K/9 and 4.5 BB/9 to go along with a 1.5 HR/9. The 23-year-old will likely report to the Cardinals' Double-A affiliate and look to get back into the rhythm that helped him become an organizational All-Star for the Phillies following the 2016 season.

Phillies' Elniery Garcia: Removed from 40-man roster
Garcia was outrighted off the Phillies' 40-man roster Monday.
A shoulder injury forced Garcia to the DL to begin the year, and he was later suspended 80 games for testing positive for Boldenone. During his time on the field, Garcia issued six more walks than strikeouts in 30.2 innings (13:19 K:BB). He'll be hard-pressed to work his way back onto the 40-man at any point in 2018.

Phillies' Elniery Garcia: Will pitch in fall ball
Garcia will play in the Arizona Fall League this year, Corey Seidman of CSN Philadelphia reports.
Garcia did not pitch for most of this season due to a PED suspension and a shoulder injury. He is 2-0 with a 1.40 ERA and an 8:12 K:BB in 19.1 innings since making his season debut earlier this month for Double-A Reading. Pitching in the AFL will give Garcia an opportunity to get in additional work given his limited number of innings this season.

Garcia missed the first 80 games of the season after testing positive for a banned substance. He was unable to return immediately after the suspension due to a shoulder injury. The Phillies will likely have him pitch in winter ball this offseason, given the light workload during the regular season.

Phillies' Elniery Garcia: Reinstated from restricted list
Garcia was reinstated from the restricted list at Double-A Reading on Monday, Stephen Gross of The Allentown Morning Call reports.
He was suspended for the first 80 games of the season after testing positive for the banned substance boldenone. Garcia posted an impressive 2.68 ERA and 1.10 WHIP at High-A Clearwater last year, but his 91:36 K:BB in 117.2 innings left a lot to be desired.

Phillies' Elniery Garcia: Slapped with 80-game suspension
Garcia (shoulder) has received an 80-game suspension after testing positive for Boldenone, Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal reports.
The suspension means he won't be able to return until early July, though shoulder fatigue has kept him sidelined to begin the season anyway. Garcia put together a strong 2016 season at High-A Clearwater, posting a 2.68 ERA and a .219 BAA over 19 starts, and earning a promotion to Double-A Reading to begin the season. Nonetheless, after such a steady progression, it appears the young left-hander will be riding the pine for quite some time.

Phillies' Elniery Garcia: On DL with shoulder fatigue
Garcia is on the 7-day DL at Double-A Reading due to shoulder fatigue, MLB.com's Jonathan Mayo reports.
Garcia is a 6-foot southpaw with a four-pitch mix and good command, although he lacks a true out pitch among his secondaries, which could limit him to a back-end starter role. According to FanGraphs' Eric Longenhagen, Garcia was up to 97 mph in his final start of the year last year, sitting in the 92-94 mph range. If that is his sitting velocity going forward, he might be able to profile as a mid-rotation arm, but the first step will be a healthy return from his current shoulder woes.

Garcia spent the 2016 season at High-A Clearwater, going 12-4 with a 2.68 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 91:36 K:BB in 20 appearances (19 starts). The lefty doesn't have one standout offering but he has four pitches would could prove to be average or better pitches in time.

Phillies' Elniery Garcia: Strong performance Friday
Garcia allowed one run on three hits over seven innings for High-A Clearwater on Friday. He struck out seven and walked none.
Garcia is now 2-0 with a 0.47 ERA and a 17:4 K:BB ratio in 19 innings this season. It is still early in the season, but the jump in strikeout rate (8.05 K/9 this year compared to 4.95 K/9 last year) is a good sign. Garcia profiles as a back of the rotation starter if he makes it to the majors.
