White Sox's Spencer Adams: Sent to minors camp
Adams has been reassigned to White Sox minor league camp.
The impending 21-year-old, a second-round pick in the 2014 draft, stumbled while adapting to the elevated level of play at Double-A Birmingham last year (3.90 ERA in nine starts) and didn't do well when he ended up at High-A Winston-Salem (4.01 ERA in 18 outings) either. Of course, Adams' youth will afford him plenty of time to work his way through the system.

White Sox's Spencer Adams: Leaves Wednesday's High-A game with sprained ankle
Adams left Wednesday's game with High-A Winston-Salem due to an ankle sprain, CSN Chicago's Dan Hayes reports.
Adams hasn't been as sharp this year at High-A as many expected. For someone with his lack of strikeouts (71 in 101.2 innings), pinpoint command is pivotal, and he hasn't offered that this year, sporting a career-worst 1.32 WHIP. He could miss a few starts due to the sprained ankle.

White Sox's Spencer Adams: Strong showing Tuesday
Adams struck out six and scattered six hits over six scoreless frames Tuesday against High-A Myrtle Beach.
Control continues to be Adams' calling card, as he's issued just 24 walks in 181 career minor league innings. He's also shown an ability thus far to limit the damage of the long ball, allowing just 13 homers during that span despite his propensity to pound the strike zone. With 21 starts at High-A already under his belt, Adams is a candidate for a first-half promotion to the White Sox's Double-A affiliate.
