Reed Johnson: Released by the Nationals
Johnson was released by the Nationals on Sunday.
Johnson had been in the mix for one of the final bench spots in Washington, and when he didn't make the cut, the Nationals chose to grant him his outright release rather than send him to the minors. He'll look to catch on with another organization in need of outfield depth.

Nationals' Reed Johnson: In contention for final bench spot
Johnson is still in the mix for the final spot on the Nationals' bench.
He's hit an underwhelming .276/.371/.310 in 29 at-bats this spring, but Johnson would give the Nats a veteran right-handed pinch-hitter as well as extra depth in the outfield behind Michael Taylor. Whoever wins the job might have a only hold onto it until the club decides to call up Trea Turner.
