  • Rockies' Nolan Jones: Idle Tuesday

Jones is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Cardinals. • Rockies' Nolan Jones: Knocks in two

Jones went 1-for-4 with two RBI on Sunday against the Dodgers. Jones has had a rough season, and there haven't been many signs of him turning things around as he's hitting only .224 with a 28.4 percent strikeout rate in 25 games since returning from the injured list Aug. 20. He did manage to make an impact in Sunday's loss, highlighted by an RBI single in the third inning, and he has driven in three runs across his last five appearances.

  • Rockies' Nolan Jones: Struggles continuing

Jones went 0-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base Tuesday against the Diamondbacks. Jones has had a miserable September, tallying only five hits across 31 at-bats paired with a 34.2 percent strikeout rate. He also hasn't homered since June 29, leading to a .095 ISO on the campaign. Jones is still getting regular at-bats against righties for the time being, though Sam Hilliard has been far more productive of late.

  • Rockies' Nolan Jones: Taking seat Saturday

Jones isn't in the Rockies' lineup for Saturday's game against the Cubs. Jones will get a breather Saturday after going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts during a victory in Friday's series opener. While he watches from the dugout, Jordan Beck, Brenton Doyle and Jake Cave will start in Colorado's outfield.

  • Rockies' Nolan Jones: Sitting against left-hander

Jones is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Detroit. The left-handed-hitting Jones will unsurprisingly take a seat against southpaw Tarik Skubal and has now been out of the lineup three times out of the last four games. Jordan Beck will start in left field for the Rockies on Thursday.

  • Rockies' Nolan Jones: Out of lineup again Tuesday

Jones is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Detroit. It's the second straight game that Jones' name has been absent from the lineup after he went just 3-for-17 with 10 strikeouts in his first five contests this month. Sam Hilliard is in left field for the Rockies in the series opener.

  • Rockies' Nolan Jones: On bench against righty

Jones is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Orioles. The lefty-hitting Jones will take a seat Friday even with right-hander Albert Suarez on the mound for Baltimore. • Rockies' Nolan Jones: Absent from lineup

Jones is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Marlins. It looks to be a routine day off for Jones, who is just 5-for-25 at the plate since coming off the injured list a week ago. Jordan Beck will patrol left field for the Rockies on Tuesday.

  • Rockies' Nolan Jones: Scratched from lineup

Jones was scratched from the Rockies' lineup ahead of Friday's game versus the Mets. The Rockies haven't yet provided a reason for Jones' removal from Friday's starting nine, but an explanation should be offered shortly. In the meantime, Sam Hilliard will step in to cover left field.

  • Rockies' Nolan Jones: Hitting bench Monday

Jones is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds. The lefty-hitting Jones will retreat to the bench for the series opener in Cincinnati while southpaw Andrew Abbott takes the hill for the Reds. Hunter Goodman will get the start in left field in place of Jones, who is getting on base at a .355 clip but has provided few counting statistics (two home runs, one stolen base, seven RBI, six runs) in his 21 games since he returned from the injured list in mid-June.

  • Rockies' Nolan Jones: Homers in return to lineup

  • Rockies' Nolan Jones: Back from illness

Jones (illness) will start in left field and bat sixth in Friday's game against the Nationals. Jones missed two contests because he was under the weather, but he'll give it a go Friday. The 26-year-old is 5-for-14 with a 2:8 K:BB over six games since returning from the injured list.

  • Rockies' Nolan Jones: Scratched Wednesday

Jones was scratched from the Rockies' lineup before Wednesday's game against the Dodgers due to illness, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports. Jones was reportedly feeling unwell ahead of Wednesday's contest, so he'll step out of the lineup and use the day to recover. Sean Bouchard will instead serve as Colorado's left fielder and bat sixth.

  • Rockies' Nolan Jones: First three-hit game of season

Jones went 3-for-4 with an RBI on Sunday against the Pirates. Jones started in his second straight game since returning from the injured list and has hit fifth and sixth in the order. He delivered his first three-hit effort and only sixth multi-knock performance of the campaign in 29 starts. That provides some hope that he's now fully healthy and prepared to improve upon his .196 average and .587 OPS.

  • Rockies' Nolan Jones: Hits fifth in return

Jones went 0-for-2 with two walks Friday against the Pirates. Jones was activated from the injured list Friday after missing roughly six weeks due to back and knee injuries. He hit fifth in the order, which was a common spot in the lineup for him before he was sidelined. Jones will now seek to get his season on track, as he has just a .167/.252/.271 line with one home run and two stolen bases across 107 plate appearances.

  • Rockies' Nolan Jones: Reinstated from IL

Jones (knee) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Friday. Jones landed on the injured list April 30 due to back stiffness. His initial rehab assignment was halted May 21 due to right knee soreness stemming from a slide, but he was able to resume activities June 3. Across his 12 rehab games with Triple-A Albuquerque, Jones went 9-for-42 with six runs, one home run and six RBI. He is starting in left field and batting fifth in Friday's game against the Pirates. To make room for Jones, Colorado placed Elias Diaz on the 10-day IL with a left calf strain, retroactive to June 11.

  • Rockies' Nolan Jones: Nearing return

Jones (back) is expected to be recalled from his rehab assignment following Sunday's game with Triple-A Albuquerque, MLB.com reports. Jones has appeared in three games with Albuquerque, starting twice in left field and once at designated hitter. He's lined up for a fourth appearance Sunday and will rejoin the big-league club as it travels to Oakland. Assuming all goes according to plan, it appears that Jones will be activated for the first game of the series Tuesday.

  • Rockies' Nolan Jones: Kicks off rehab assignment

Jones (back) began a rehab assignment at Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday and went 0-for-3 with a strikeout and an RBI. Jones received three plate appearances and played five innings in left field in his first game action since he landed on the 10-day injured list in late April with a low-back strain. He shouldn't need too many rehab games before being activated since he hasn't been sidelined for an extended period, but the Rockies haven't provided a firm target date for his return to the big club. The 26-year-old has slashed a disappointing .170/.243/.277 with one home run and two stolen bases over 103 plate appearances this season.

  • Rockies' Nolan Jones: Nearing rehab stint

Jones (back) will join Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday but will not immediately begin a rehab assignment, MLB.com reports. Jones is traveling to Albuquerque with Kris Bryant (back), but he's behind his teammate in his recovery process. He'll continue to ramp up his activity prior to appearing in games, but the Rockies hope he'll be ready to return from the 10-day injured list by late May.

  • Rockies' Nolan Jones: Likely headed to IL

The Rockies are expected to place Jones (back) on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports. Zahlmann notes that outfield prospect Jordan Beck is on track to receive a call-up from Triple-A Albuquerque, and given that he suffered a setback with his lingering back injury in Sunday's 8-2 loss to the Astros, Jones is an obvious candidate to come off the 26-man active roster in a corresponding move. Jones has been removed from games twice within the past week due to back stiffness, so it makes sense for the Rockies to get out in front of the issue and put him on the shelf for at least the next week and a half so he can rest up and recover. After a breakout 20-20 campaign with the Rockies in 2023, Jones has struggled mightily over the first month of the 2024 season, slashing just .170/.243/.277 while contributing one home run and two stolen bases over 103 plate appearances.
