Henriquez underwent a UCL reconstruction surgery with an internal brace procedure on his right elbow in December and will be sidelined for the duration of the 2026 season.

Henriquez appeared in line to compete for save chances heading into the 2026 campaign after putting together an impressive 2025 season. He posted a 2.22 ERA and 1.10 WHIP with a 98:27 K:BB and seven saves in 11 chances across 73.0 innings. However, he'll now shift his focus to rehabbing following a recent season-ending surgery. The Marlins expect him to be ready for next year's spring training, per an update from the team.

  Henriquez allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and no walks while striking out one over 1.1 innings to earn the save in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Rockies. Henriquez entered the game with two outs in the eighth inning after Michael Petersen let Colorado get on the board. In the ninth, Henriquez also ran into some trouble, but he had just enough wiggle room to close out his first save since July 22. It appears the Marlins simply wanted to get the right-hander some work, as nominal top ninth-inning option Calvin Faucher should have been available Tuesday. Henriquez has mostly worked as a setup man this year, earning seven saves and 24 holds while pitching to a 2.43 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 91:24 K:BB over 66.2 innings. Prior to this game, he had not allowed an earned run since July 27 versus the Brewers.

Henriquez took the mound for the eighth inning and yielded ground-rule doubles to Jackson Chourio and Andrew Vaughn, the second of which plated the game-tying run. Henriquez and Calvin Faucher have been the primary members of Miami's closing committee of late, and it doesn't appear that either has pulled ahead. Henriquez has allowed a run in three of his last four appearances, and his ERA stands at 3.06 after 50 innings this season.

Henriquez inherited a three-run lead in the top of the ninth and nearly squandered the advantage by allowing a leadoff walk and back-to-back doubles that cut the the Padres' deficit to one. However, he rebounded and retired the next three batters he faced to notch his sixth save of the campaign. Henriquez and Calvin Faucher have been battling for closer duties, but neither has done enough to win the job at this point. In his last 10.1 innings, Henriquez has allowed four runs and generated a 15:4 K:BB.

  Henriquez struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Sunday's 6-4 win over the Diamondbacks. Calvin Faucher was brought in to face the top of Arizona's order in the eighth inning and nearly made a disaster of it. He got through the frame, and Henriquez was able to have a much less dramatic ninth for his third save of the year, two of which he's earned in his last five outings. Henriquez has added 11 holds while pitching to a 2.93 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 55:16 K:BB through 40 innings this season. Based on Sunday's usage pattern, Faucher, who has been the closer lately, appears to be set to enter games in the the most high-leverage moments, and that could give Henriquez some chances at ancillary saves. However, Miami is 37-45 on the year, and the team's relievers have combined for just 18 saves, so there may not be a lot of chances to go around.

Calvin Faucher ended up working the ninth for the save, but Henriquez may be Miami's top high-leverage option at the moment. Wednesday's homer was the first on his ledger since April 27, while the earned runs were the first he'd given up since April 28. Through 12 appearances in May, Henriquez sports a 1.38 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 20:4 K:BB in 13 innings while collecting two wins, two holds and his first career save.
