  • Brewers' Sal Frelick: Will get another shot at third base

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Thursday that the team plans to give Frelick another look at third base next season, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Frelick played third base often during spring training but moved back to the outfield when Garrett Mitchell fractured his hand shortly before Opening Day and played just four innings at third during the season. However, the club was pleased with how Frelick looked at the hot corner and like the option of using him there, even if it might not be on a regular basis.

  • Brewers' Sal Frelick: On Milwaukee's wild-card roster

Frelick (hip) is on the Brewers' roster for the National League Wild Card Series versus the Mets, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Frelick suffered a bone bruise in his left hip during the final weekend of the regular season, but he went through a workout Monday and convinced the Brewers he was healthy enough to be included on their wild-card roster. He is expected to be in Tuesday's lineup for Game 1.

  • Brewers' Sal Frelick: Status for wild-card series TBD

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Monday that Frelick's (hip) status for the wild-card series remains uncertain, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports. Frelick was diagnosed with a bone bruise in his left hip Saturday, but he is still noticeably gimpy and will undergo more testing Monday. If Frelick is ultimately not ready for the wild-card series which begins Tuesday, Blake Perkins should see an increase in responsibility.

  • Brewers' Sal Frelick: Exits with injury

Frelick was removed from Friday's game against the Mets with an apparent leg injury, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Frelick went down after crashing hard into the wall in right field while attempting to catch a foul ball in the third inning. He was able to slowly limp off the field under his own power but then needed assistance from the Brewers' training staff getting down the dugout steps and into the clubhouse. An update on his status will likely come in the near future, though it's possible the Brewers sit the 24-year-old down for the final two games of the season with a playoff berth already secured.

  • Brewers' Sal Frelick: Sitting Saturday

Frelick isn't in the Brewers' lineup for Saturday's game against Cincinnati. He'll get a chance to rest Saturday while Jackson Chourio, Blake Perkins and Garrett Mitchell form the Brewers' outfield trio.

  • Brewers' Sal Frelick: Getting day off

Frelick is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Giants. As Adam McCalvy of MLB.com notes, Frelick fouled a ball off himself during Wednesday's 5-3 win and was removed from the contest in the top of the eighth inning, but his early exit seems to have been mostly precautionary. McCalvy characterized Frelick's absence from the lineup Thursday as more of an off day rather than the result of legitimate concern about his health, so the expectation is that the 24-year-old will be back in the lineup for Friday's series opener in Cincinnati. Garrett Mitchell will spell Frelick in right field Thursday.

Frelick went 2-for-4 with a triple, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Cardinals. • Brewers' Sal Frelick: Idle against southpaw

Frelick is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals. The lefty-hitting Frelick had started in each of Milwaukee's last five games -- including two against left-handed starters -- but he'll head to the bench Sunday while southpaw Mitchell Parker takes the hill for the Nationals. Jackson Chourio, Blake Perkins and Garrett Mitchell will make up the Milwaukee outfield from left to right.

  • Brewers' Sal Frelick: Crosses plate three times Friday

Frelick went 2-for-4 with three runs scored in Friday's 8-3 win over the Nationals. Getting another start in right field and batting seventh, Frelick singled in the second and eighth innings and got hit by a pitch in the sixth, coming around to score all three times. Over his last 16 contests, the 24-year-old is slashing .309/.377/.418 with two steals, two RBI and nine runs. Brice Turang has a .220 OBP since the beginning of July, and if manager Pat Murphy elects to shake up his batting order against right-handed pitching, Frelick's making a strong case to get a look in the leadoff spot.

Blake Perkins will take Frelick's spot in the outfield, covering center field while batting ninth.

  • Brewers' Sal Frelick: Reps at third base not ruled out

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Monday that using Frelick at third base is a possibility following the return of Garrett Mitchell, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Frelick had been in line for regular reps at the hot corner before Mitchell was hurt late in spring training. However, with Joey Ortiz having since established himself at third base, it sounds like Frelick seeing action there won't be a priority. Frelick has played four innings at third base this season, which is the first time he's been used there in pro ball.
