Marlins' Jordan Milbrath: Traded to Marlins
Milbrath was sent from Cleveland to Miami in exchange for Nick Wittgren on Monday.
Milbrath didn't have much success in his first taste of Triple-A action last season, posting a 5.93 ERA with a 12:8 K:BB for Columbus. In a longer, 50-inning sample with Double-A Akron, he produced a solid 3.42 ERA, but that's not particularly impressive for a player who is now 27 years old.

Indians' Jordan Milbrath: Demoted to Double-A
Milbrath was transferred to Double-A Akron on Wednesday.
Milbrath was sent to Double-A after struggling at Triple-A Columbus. He appeared in nine games and accrued a 6.59 ERA with 12 strikeouts and eight walks across 13.2 innings for the Clippers.

Indians' Jordan Milbrath: Promoted to Triple-A Columbus
Milbrath was promoted to Triple-A Columbus on Friday.
Milbrath looked solid (3.12 ERA) at Double-A Akron, but he still allowed five walks compared to just five strikeouts across five appearances (8.2 innings pitched). He's only 26 and already on the 40-man roster, so if he improves his control and impresses at Triple-A, Milbrath could receive another promotion later in the summer.

Indians' Jordan Milbrath: Returns to Cleveland
Milbrath was returned to the Indians on Tuesday and optioned to Triple-A Columbus.
Milbrath was selected by the Pirates in the Rule 5 draft, but his poor spring showing (an 8.64 ERA with eight walks in 8.1 innings) caused Pittsburgh to return him to Cleveland rather than stash him on their major-league roster. Though the 26-year-old righty will open the year in Columbus, he could be up in the big leagues at some point this season in a lower-leverage role out of the bullpen.

Pirates' Jordan Milbrath: Placed on waivers
Milbrath was placed on waivers Monday, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Milbrath, a Rule 5 pick from the Indians this offseason, will have to be offered back to Cleveland if he clears waivers. He failed to impress this spring, tossing 8.1 innings with an 8.64 ERA and walking eight batters. The 26-year-old has never reached Triple-A and recorded a 4.96 FIP in 30 innings for Double-A Akron last season.

Pirates' Jordan Milbrath: Getting a good look
A decision on whether to keep Milbrath -- a Rule 5 pickup -- will be made based upon how he looks in spring training, Rob Biertempfel of the Athletic reports. "Will Jordan make our club? He'll show us this spring," general manager Neal Huntington said. "It won't be based on his ERA. It will be based on the quality of stuff, the fit and how we see him impacting us short- and long-term."
Milbrath switched from throwing overhand to sidearm while pitching for the Cleveland organization last spring. He compiled decent numbers (including a 3.02 ERA and 10 K/9), but the pitching-rich Indians had no room for him. His velocity also spiked about three mph into the upper 90s after he began throwing his two-seam fastball. Since the 6-foot-6 righty starting throwing from the side, his groundball rate increased from 48.5 percent to 75.9 percent at High-A. He's a long ways from securing a place in Pittsburgh's bullpen, but the organization has high hopes for him.
